Insert a SIM card eject tool or a straightened paperclip into the SIM card tray's release slot, situated on the left edge of the phone.

  • Press firmly until the tray is fully ejected.

Step 2

Step 2 image

Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.

  • The SIM card will fall out of the tray easily.
  • When reinserting the SIM card, ensure it is in the correct orientation relative to the SIM card tray.

Step 3 | Opening Procedure

Step 3 image

Apply clear tape over cracked display glass to prevent bodily harm and further breakage.

  • Apply the tape for a smooth surface when using the suction cup.
  • Place the suction cup near the SIM slot edge, avoiding the curved part of the glass.
  • The curved portion may not provide a secure seal for the suction cup.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Apply firm, constant pressure with the suction cup for extended periods, or use a iOpener, heat gun, or hair dryer to loosen the adhesive.

  • Pull up on the suction cup while inserting an opening pick between the front panel and rear case.
  • If necessary, gently rock the suction cup and screen to further weaken the adhesive.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Avoiding damage to the phone's components is critical in this repair.

  • Insert the pick no more than 0.25 inches (6 mm) into the bottom edge of the phone.
  • Avoid touching the folded portion of the OLED panel, as it can damage the display.
  • Do not cut along the left edge, as delicate display cables may be damaged.
  • In the upper left corner, make very shallow cuts to avoid damaging the front-facing camera.

Step 6

Step 6 image

Insert the opening pick on the right side of the phone and gently slide it down.

  • The goal is to start separating the display adhesive.

Use the flat edge of the opening pick, not the corner, to prevent it from being inserted too far.

  • Slide the opening pick around the lower-right corner.
  • Continue along the bottom edge of the phone.

Step 8

Step 8 image

Step 9

Step 9 image

Hold the display from the right side and gently lift it, opening the phone like a book.

If the display resists, apply gentle prying to separate any remaining adhesive.

  • The display is not yet fully detached due to fragile ribbon cables connecting it to the motherboard.
  • Lay the display flat beside the phone on a table, keeping it close to avoid straining the cables.

Step 10

Step 10 image

Use a precision opener to pry up the lower edge of the digitizer cable connector cover.

Pry carefully to avoid damaging the cable underneath or losing the cover.

  • Remove the clip on the bottom edge that secures the cover.
  • Take care to keep the connector cover for reassembly.

Step 11

Step 11 image

Thumbnail 2

Use the point of a spudger to lift the digitizer cable connector up and out of its socket on the motherboard.

  • To re-attach press connectors, carefully align and press down on one side until it clicks into place, then repeat on the other side.
  • Do not press down in the middle.

Misaligned pins can bend, causing permanent damage.

If any part of your screen doesn't respond to touch after repair, re-seat this connector, ensuring it clicks fully into place and check for dust or obstructions in the socket.

Step 12

Step 12 image

Remove all adhesive tape from the display connector cover using tweezers.

Step 13

Step 13 image

Insert the point of a spudger into the small hole on the edge of the display connector cover.

  • Pry the cover out of its recess using the spudger.
  • Remove the connector cover and set it aside for reinstallation during reassembly.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Thumbnail 2

Use a flat spudger to carefully lift the display cable connector out of its socket.

  • Remove the display.

If replacing adhesive during reassembly, pause and proceed with that step now.

Step 15 | Midframe

Step 15 image

Remove the 11 x 3.8 mm Phillips screws securing the midframe.

Keep track of each screw to ensure proper reinstallation.

Step 16

Use a prying tool to gently lift the midframe at the volume button area.

  • Insert the tool into the notch near the volume buttons.
  • Pry the midframe upwards and away from the phone.

Be careful not to damage any surrounding components.

Remove the midframe.

Clear all cables and connectors from the board.

  • Use a spudger to gently lift the motherboard's bottom edge.
  • If it starts to bend, stop and check for any obstruction.

Be careful not to damage the narrow part of the motherboard.

Lift the board out by sliding it toward the bottom while holding near the SIM card slot.

Remove the motherboard.

Keep the phone flat with battery facing up to avoid camera fall-out.

  • Reinstall motherboard, moving cables and connectors clear of the board.
  • Ensure all connectors align with their sockets.

Step 25 | Loudspeaker
