Using a heating pad: Set to 80° C (176° F), place screen-side down for 10 minutes.
Position a small block, such as an eraser, beneath the right edge of the device.
The adhesive is extremely strong — repeated heating and pulling may be required.
Slide the opening tool along the edge to create space for an opening pick.
If you encounter issues, reheat the edge and retry.
Be careful not to damage the screen.
If trouble occurs, reheat and pull again; repeated cycles will weaken adhesive.
Insert the plastic opening pick into the gap.
Apply gentle heat to the right edge of the screen using a hair dryer or heat gun, aiming for a temperature that feels just shy of unbearable.
Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 2 mm near the front-facing camera to avoid damaging it.
Swing the screen over the left edge of your phone like opening a book.
Be cautious if you encounter resistance during removal as it may indicate leftover adhesive.
Insert the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and turn counterclockwise to loosen the 1.9mm-long screw securing the screen connector cover.
Slide the screen connector cover down using your fingers or a pair of tweezers.
Locate the screen connector on the top-right.
Gently pry it away from the rest of the assembly using a spudger.
Disconnect and remove the screen assembly.
Now that you have completed disassembling your phone, proceed with reassembly.
Locate the black plastic perimeter attached to the screen or the frame.
Remove screen adhesive from the frame perimeter using a spudger and tweezers.
Position the screen adjacent to the phone, ensuring the screen connector has ample clearance to reach its corresponding socket.
Position the screen press connector above its socket.
Align the screen connector cover with its mating surface and gently push it up.
Install the screen connector cover screw with a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.
Ensure the correct screw is selected for this application.
Before finalizing the repair, verify its success by testing the screen.
Run a diagnostics test with the built-in Pixel Diagnostic tool to verify screen functionality.
Flip the screen over carefully and place it onto the phone.
Press firmly around the screen perimeter to secure it.
Incorrect assembly can result in air bubbles or damage to the display.
