Google Pixel 10a Loudspeaker Replacement

  • Follow this guide to remove or replace the loudspeaker in your Google Pixel 10a.

Replacing the loudspeaker may be necessary if it's producing crackly sound, static, or no sound at all.

  • You'll need replacement rear cover adhesives for this repair.
  • To retain water resistance, ensure accurate adhesive application and clean mating surfaces.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Allow the battery to drain below 25% before starting repair to prevent fire risk.

  • Unplug all cables and power down the device.
  • Check for bulging rear cover, indicating a swollen battery; take necessary precautions if found.

Step 2 | Eject the SIM card tray

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool or a straightened paper clip into the small hole on the SIM card tray.
  • Press firmly to eject the tray.
  • Remove the ejected tray.

Step 3 | Heat the rear cover

Heat the rear cover with a hair dryer until hot to the touch.

Be cautious when handling hot surfaces and sharp objects.

  • Apply gentle heat to the edge of the cover.
  • The adhesive will soften, making it easier to separate the rear cover.

Step 4 | Create an opening gap

Position the suction handle near the center of the rear cover's right edge, as close to the edge as you can.

Apply strong, steady pressure to the suction handle until a gap appears.

  • If resistance persists, reheat the edge before retrying.
  • Pierce the gap with the tip of an opening pick.

Be cautious of the wireless charging coil when prying the rear cover's left edge.

  • Use a reference picture to guide your removal of the adhesive around the frame perimeter and near the cameras.
  • When separating the left edge, only insert your pick up to 3 mm to avoid damaging the coil and its graphite film.

Step 7 | Separate the rear cover

Apply an opening pick along the entire perimeter to loosen the adhesive.

  • If the adhesive is stubborn, reapply heat and retry the process.

Insert opening pick into top-left corner and gently pry to release camera bezel's adhesive.

Remove the rear cover by gently peeling it upwards.

Step 10 | Remove the wireless charging assembly screws

Use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver to remove the 15 screws securing the wireless charging assembly.

  • Remove 13 gray screws and 2 silver non-magnetic screws.

Keep track of each screw to avoid damaging your phone when reassembling.

Step 11 | Unclip the wireless charging assembly

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap between the wireless charging assembly and the device.
  • Pry up carefully to unclip the wireless charging assembly from the two cutouts:
    • one near the bottom-right corner,
    • and another on the left edge near the power button.

Remove the wireless charging assembly.

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.

  • Secure the battery connector cover using a 1.9 mm-long Torx Plus 3IP screw.

Remove the battery connector cover.

Careful not to damage surrounding components when prying the battery connector.

  • Insert the point of a spudger under the top-right corner of the battery connector.
  • Pry gently up to disconnect the battery connector, following the gold line on the circuit board for guidance.

Step 16 | Disconnect the front camera

Insert point of a spudger into top-left corner of front camera connector and pry up to disconnect.

  • Flip camera module out of its recess onto the logic board.
  • Mind copper foil to avoid tears.

Step 17 | Remove the logic board screws

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and unscrew the two 2.9 mm screws:

  • Top near the front camera
  • Bottom-right corner

Step 18 | Remove the logic board

Insert the point of a spudger under the logic board near the front camera.

  • Pry up gently to loosen the board.

Ensure the SIM card tray is ejected.

  • Pry the logic board loose with a spudger, inserted into the notch at the bottom-right corner.

Temporarily bend battery connector away from logic board to prevent damage during removal.

Use your fingers to carefully lift the logic board.

  • Lift the board from the left side.
  • Continue lifting until the board is completely removed.

Step 22 | Remove the loudspeaker

Pry up the top edge of the loudspeaker using the point of a credit card pick.

  • Continue to gently pry up the rest of the speaker until it is fully removed.

Reassembly of your phone is now underway.

  • Follow these instructions carefully, as incorrect assembly can cause damage or malfunction.
  • Please ensure all components are properly aligned and securely attached.

Step 24 | Install the loudspeaker

Position the loudspeaker at a 45-degree angle.

  • Press down firmly on the loudspeaker until it snaps into position.

Locate the press connector on the logic board.

  • Install the logic board with the underside facing up.
  • When installing the screen, align it correctly and press down firmly to ensure proper connection at the press connector.

Position the logic board with the bottom edge at a shallow angle, ensuring the USB-C port fits snugly within its frame cutout.

Press the logic board near the USB-C port with your finger until you feel a click.

  • If it won't click, realign the logic board so it fits snugly against the frame.
  • The logic board should fully seat against the plastic alignment pin.

Bend the battery connector away from the logic board.

  • Lay the top part of the logic board in its recess.
  • Use a spudger to shift the rear cameras into their cutouts.

Install two Torx Plus 3IP screws:

  • Upper left: near the front camera
  • Lower right: near the corner

Ensure correct screw length (2.9 mm).

Align the front camera with its cutout using a spudger or your fingertip, then press it firmly in place.

Press the front camera press connector into place with your finger.

Align the battery press connector with its socket.

Do not force the connector into place; this may damage the pins.

  • If alignment is difficult, reposition the connector and try again.

Hook the battery connector cover's left edge into position.

Lay the cover flat to secure it in place.

Install the battery connector cover screw using a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.

Place the wireless charging assembly on the frame.

  • Use your fingers to press around the perimeter to engage all its clips.
  • Stop if it feels like it won't clip in. Check for any obstructions underneath.

Install Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.

  • Insert thirteen 5.0 mm long gray wireless charging assembly screws.
  • Add two silver non-magnetic wireless charging assembly screws.

Step 37 | Test your repair

Test your repair by powering on your phone and checking all functions.

  • Run a diagnostics test using the Pixel Diagnostic tool.

If screen or fingerprint sensor issues persist, reconnect the screen connector.

Fully power off your phone before continuing with reassembly.

Step 38 | Clean the frame

Take time cleaning the frame, as a clean surface enables even replacement adhesive application.

  • Remove the existing adhesive from the perimeter using fingers, spudger, or tweezers.
  • If a large piece can be gripped, pull long sections in the opposite direction of the adhesive.

Use high concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth (or coffee filter) to remove any remaining adhesive residue.

Step 39 | Replace the camera bezel adhesive

Check the condition of the adhesive blocks around the rear cameras.

  • If they're clean, unwrinkled, and undamaged, proceed as instructed in step __. (Note: actual number not included)
  • Otherwise, use a spudger to carefully pry up each of the seven adhesive blocks

Remove the clear liner from the camera bezel adhesive.

  • Align the adhesive carefully, using the rear cameras for reference.
  • Lay the adhesive in place smoothly.

Press the camera bezel adhesive firmly with your fingers until it adheres evenly.

  • Carefully peel off the top blue liner to expose the adhesive.
  • A remaining thin liner will still cover the adhesive, which should be removed next.

Step 42 | Replace the rear cover interior adhesive

  • Inspect the interior adhesive blocks on the rear cover.
  • If clean and unwrinkled, you can reuse them.
  • Use a spudger to scrape and remove the interior adhesive blocks from the rear cover.

  • Remove the clear liner from the interior adhesive sheet.
  • Align the adhesive on the rear cover using the camera cutout for reference.
  • Press the adhesive firmly onto the rear cover to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Slowly peel away the large protective liner to avoid any damage or residue.

Step 44 | Install the rear cover adhesive

Hold the rear cover adhesive against the phone's frame, using the camera cutout for reference.

Peel down the top half of the clear liner to expose the adhesive.

  • Do not remove the liner completely at this time.

Take your time aligning the adhesive to the .

  • Lay the top edge of the adhesive onto the frame.
  • Press down along the top edge to secure alignment.
  • Pean away the clear liner while pressing the rest of the adhesive in place.

Remove the rear cover liner by peeling it up.

Remove any remaining liner strips from the new camera bezel adhesive.

  • Inspect the frame carefully for any remaining liners, then remove them.

Ensure rear cover camera cutouts are free of debris.

  • Clean with a lint-free cloth if necessary.
  • Remove lens caps or liners from rear cameras.
  • Clean lenses using a lint-free cloth, if needed.

Step 52 | Install the rear cover

Place the rear cover over the frame.

  • Firmly press around the perimeter to secure the adhesive.
  • To further strengthen the bond, squeeze firmly around the perimeter while holding your phone.

For a more secure attachment, place your phone screen-down on a flat surface under books overnight.
