Replacing a battery may compromise your phone's water resistance.
Let the Pixel's battery drain to below 25% before starting repair.
Heat the rear cover using a hair dryer until it's hot to the touch.
Position the suction handle approximately one inch from the right edge of the rear cover, as near to the edge as feasible.
Hold the suction handle firmly and pull up with steady force.
Separate the rear cover from the device using a reference picture.
Insert your tool no more than 3 mm when prying loose the left edge adhesive to avoid damaging the wireless charging coil and its graphite film.
Apply an opening pick to the perimeter of the device and slide it along to separate the adhesive.
Excessive force may cause damage — use gentle pressure instead.
If separation is difficult, reapply heat and attempt again.
Insert an opening pick deep into the top-left corner, prying the adhesive away from the camera bezel.
Remove the rear cover by slowly peeling it up.
Use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver to remove the 15 screws securing the wireless charging assembly.
Careful not to mix or lose any screws during this process; reattach each one exactly where it was found to prevent damage to your phone.
Insert an opening pick into the gap at the bottom-right corner of the device.
Disconnect and remove the wireless charging assembly.
Remove the battery connector cover using a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.
Remove the battery connector cover.
Insert the point of a spudger under the top-right corner of the battery connector.
Pry up carefully to disconnect the battery, taking care not to damage delicate components near the connector socket.
Throughout this repair, pry only at the designated area marked by a gold line on the circuit board.
Avoid puncturing the battery when handling cables.
The battery adhesive is strong; multiple attempts may be required.
If the battery does not loosen, proceed to the next step for an alternate method.
Apply 2-3 drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol (90%+) to the left edge of the battery.
Remove the battery with its attached plastic liner.
Reassembly of your phone begins now.
Use only high-concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth or coffee filters to avoid spreading adhesive.
Remove the thin liner from the top edge of the battery's back.
Route the left button cable over the edge to keep it clear from the battery.
Hold the battery above its recess.
Do not force the connector into place — try repositioning and reconnecting if needed.
Steady the battery with one hand.
Press the battery firmly into place with your fingers.
Place the battery connector cover into position and gently lower it onto its base.
Install the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and secure the 1.9 mm-long battery connector cover screw.
Press the left button cable onto the battery with your finger.
Place the wireless charging assembly onto the frame.
Install the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.
Test your repair: Power on your phone and verify all features are functional.
If screen or fingerprint sensor is malfunctioning, reconnect the screen connector.
Full power down before reassembly.
Take your time cleaning the frame.
A clean frame ensures better bond quality, as replacement adhesive will lay evenly.
Remove any remaining residue with high concentration (greater than 90%) isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth (or coffee filter).
Check the adhesive blocks around the rear cameras for cleanliness and wrinkles.
Peel the clear liner from the camera bezel adhesive.
Press the camera bezel adhesive onto the frame using your fingers.
Check the interior adhesive blocks for cleanliness and wrinkles.
Remove the clear liner from the interior adhesive sheet.
Place the rear cover adhesive onto the phone's frame without removing its liner.
Peel down the top half of the clear liner to expose the adhesive. Do not fully remove the liner yet.
Take your time aligning the adhesive to the frame.
Press down along the top edge to secure the alignment, as incorrect application may require restarting with new adhesive.
Press the adhesive evenly around the entire frame using a spudger.
Remove the large liner from the rear cover adhesive.
Remove any remaining liner material from the replacement camera bezel adhesive.
Remove the perimeter adhesive liner.
Dirt on the camera cutouts can affect image quality.
Lay the rear cover over the frame.
For a more secure bond, do not use this method as it may compromise the structural integrity of the device. Instead:
