Google Pixel 10 Front Camera Replacement

Replacing the front camera may affect your phone's water resistance, depending on proper adhesive application and surface cleanliness.

Follow this guide to replace your Google Pixel 10's front camera (selfie camera), resolving issues like fuzzy or blurry images, or a non-functioning camera.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Ensure the battery level is below 25% to prevent potential fire hazard.

  • Unplug all cables from the device.
  • Completely power down your Pixel by pressing the pwr button.

Cracked back glass can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply non-overlapping strips of packing tape to cover the cracked glass completely, but do not stick tape to the frame.
  • Ensure a single strip of tape is placed at the bottom edge, large enough for a suction cup to fit.

Consider wearing safety glasses to protect your eyes during the repair.

Step 3 | Heat the bottom edge

Improper heating methods can cause damage to your device's display and/or battery.

  • Apply heat to the bottom edge of the back glass using an iOpener for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the back glass.

If using a heat gun, carefully follow linked instructions to avoid damage.

Step 4 | Apply a suction handle

Attach a suction handle to the center of the back glass's lower edge, right at the edge.

Hold the suction handle firmly and pull up with consistent force.

  • A gap will form between the back glass and .
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap.

Use the provided image for reference when separating the adhesive.

  • The back glass is secured with adhesive around the frame's perimeter.
  • Avoid inserting your pick near the power button, where a cable connects to the device.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Apply heat to a stuck area and try again if necessary.

  • Slide an opening pick along the bottom edge to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick under the bottom left corner to keep it from re-sealing.

Insert the pick under the bottom left corner and slide it up to the power button.

Leave the pick in place to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

Step 9 | Separate the right edge adhesive

Insert the third pick under the bottom right corner of the back glass.

  • Slide the pick up the right edge, working carefully to avoid damaging any components.
  • Leave the pick in place, inserted under the top right corner.

Step 10 | Separate the top edge adhesive

Insert a fourth pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge and slightly around the top left corner.
  • Stop at the bottom of the camera bump.

Do not attempt to fully remove the back glass yet, as it is still connected by a ribbon cable.

Step 11 | Prop up the back glass

Flip the back glass over the left side of the device.

  • Use a suction handle or a sturdy object to prop it up securely.
  • If still stuck, apply an opening pick around the perimeter and separate any remaining adhesive.

Step 12 | Remove the bracket screws

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and take out the two screws. They are located at the back glass connector bracket.

  • Screw size: 5.0 mm long.

Careful not to scratch or smudge the rear cameras.

  • Remove the bracket using tweezers or your fingers.

Step 14 | Disconnect the back glass

Insert the pointed end of a spudger between the back glass and the phone casing.

  • Pry up on the connector gently until it releases.

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screw that secures the front camera bracket using its corresponding driver.

  • The screw is 5.0 mm long.

Step 17 | Remove the bracket

Push the front camera bracket's clip upwards with the point of a spudger.

  • Release the clip by pushing it upwards.
  • Remove the front camera bracket.

Step 18 | Disconnect the front camera

Insert the pointed end of a spudger into the gap next to the front camera press connector.

Apply gentle pressure with the spudger to release the connection.

  • The connector should now be free from the front camera assembly.

Step 19 | Remove the front camera

Remove the front camera by prying it up from the top edge using a spudger.

  • Gently loosen the adhesive securing the front camera in its recess.
  • Pry the front camera upwards and out of its recess.

Now that you have completed disassembling your phone, follow these steps to put it back together.

Scrape off old front camera adhesive with a spudger and tweezers.

  • Clean remaining adhesive with a spudger wrapped in microfiber cloth, one drop of high-concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol, and allow to dry completely before proceeding.

Remove the large clear liner from the front camera adhesive.

  • Gently place it into the recess.
  • Use a spudger to press down firmly on the adhesive and secure it in place.
  • Slowly peel up and remove the remaining liner.
  • If the adhesive peels up with the liner, lay it back down and repress it firmly before retrying.

Step 23 | Remove any protective caps

Remove any protective cap from the front camera.

Face the cable towards the right side.

  • Lay the front camera into its recess.
  • Press it firmly into place.

Press down on the front camera press connector with your finger.

Avoid contact with the rear cameras.

  • Position the front camera bracket at the top corners, sliding it under the frame's lip.
  • Press the clip in to secure the bracket.

Install the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and secure the front camera bracket with a 5.0 mm long screw.

Step 28 | Remove the old back glass adhesive

All old adhesive and residue must be thoroughly removed from the frame.

  • Take your time to remove all remnants of the old adhesive.
  • Ensure complete removal for a flat surface, improving seal performance on the back glass.

Risk of damage exists when handling the battery and nearby components; exercise extreme care.

  • Use a spudger to carefully remove old adhesive from the frame, trying to "roll" it onto itself for easy removal.
  • If smaller chunks persist, apply one drop of high-concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol and scrape up with your spudger.

Apply isopropyl alcohol carefully to prevent damage or discoloration.

  • Wrap a microfiber cloth around a spudger
  • Add one drop of high-concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol

Clean any remaining adhesive with the spudger, adding more drops as needed.

Allow the isopropyl alcohol to dry completely before proceeding.

Repeat the cleaning procedure for the back glass as done previously.

  • Wipe the back glass with a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
  • Use a microfiber cloth to remove any remaining streaks or residue.

Ensure the back glass adhesive is properly aligned before application.

  • Hold the adhesive over the frame to verify its orientation.
  • Use the rear camera cutout as a reference point on the liner for accurate alignment.

Expose the adhesive by peeling down the top half of the large, clear liner. Do not fully remove the liner yet.

Take your time when aligning the adhesive with the frame, as it's very sticky and cannot be moved once applied.

  • Lay the exposed top edge of the adhesive onto the frame, with the larger clear liner folded towards the bottom of the phone.
  • Use the lip of the frame to help align the adhesive.
  • Gently press down on the top corners to secure the adhesive once it's properly aligned.

Slowly apply remaining adhesive to frame, pressing firmly in place.

  • Peel away larger liner as adhesive is applied.

Press the adhesive firmly against the frame with a spudger.

Peel up and remove the large colored liner slowly from the cutout near the top edge.

  • If the adhesive begins to separate, ensure all of it has been seated with a spudger.
  • If peeling continues, press the adhesive down with the spudger's point as you remove the liner.

Press down firmly on the adhesive with a spudger.

Step 39 | Remove any liners from the back glass

Inspect your new back glass for various protective liners and pieces of tape on the underside.

Remove all these components carefully, noting that different areas may have unique liners or tapes.

  • Pay particular attention to the front camera cutouts and bottom edge when removing liners.
  • Identify liners by their pull tabs if present.

Step 40 | Prop up the back glass

Attach a suction handle to the back glass and position it on the left side.

  • The cable should be near its connector for safe access.

Alternatively, use a sturdy object (like books) as a substitute prop.

Step 41 | Connect the back glass cable

Use a spudger to connect the back glass press connector to its socket.

  • Apply the flat end of the spudger, working carefully as there is little play in the cable.
  • If necessary, reposition the back glass and try again.
  • Avoid forcing the connector into place; instead, move it gently until it clicks.

Step 42 | Install the bracket

Reinstall the cable's bracket, ensuring that the tab on the right edge fits into its corresponding groove.

  • Install the two 5.0 mm-long screws using a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.
  • Power on your device and test functions, but power back down completely before continuing.

    • If issues arise, attempt basic troubleshooting first.

Step 44 | Remove the remaining liners

Remove any remaining liners from the back glass adhesive.

  • If the adhesive starts peeling with the liner, ensure it is fully seated with a spudger.
  • Hold down the adhesive with your spudger's point if it continues to peel.

Step 45 | Install the back glass

Flip the back glass onto the frame and press it firmly into place.

  • Hold your phone up and squeeze firmly around the perimeter to strengthen the bond — risk of damage if not done carefully.

  • You can use either books or screen vise clamps for an even stronger bond.
