The vibration motor (also known as the vibrator) may need replacement if your phone no longer vibrates or the vibrations have weakened.

Replacement back glass adhesive is required for this repair, and proper application will be crucial to maintaining water resistance.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Step 1 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Let the Pixel's battery drain to 25% or less to avoid potential damage or fires.

  • Disconnect all cables from the device.
  • Power down the phone by pressing and holding the power button until it shuts down.

Step 2 | Cracked glass preparation

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Glass shards can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply non-overlapping strips of packing tape to cracked back glass, ensuring full coverage.
  • Leave a single strip of tape across the bottom edge for the suction cup to fit on.
  • Only apply tape to the glass itself, avoiding the frame.

Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from loose glass debris during the repair.

Step 3 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 3 image

Improper use of a heat gun can cause damage to the display and/or battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the back glass, following the linked instructions carefully.

Step 4 | Apply a suction handle

Step 4 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Attach a suction handle to the very bottom edge of the back glass, centered.

Step 5 | Insert an opening pick

Step 5 image

Apply firm pressure to the suction handle until a separation occurs.

  • Locate the gap between the back glass and frame.
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap.

Step 6 | Back glass adhesive information

Step 6 image

Use the reference picture to guide separation of the adhesive securing the back glass along the frame's perimeter.

  • Work around the adhesive, using it as a reference point for removal.

Avoid inserting your pick near the power button where a cable connects the back glass to prevent damage.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Step 7 image
