Google Pixel 10 Pro Screen Replacement

This guide was written by iFixit staff, not endorsed by Google. Learn more about our guides.

  • To fix a cracked or broken screen on your Google Pixel 10 Pro, follow this guide for replacement.
  • Ensure you have replacement screen adhesive if it's not already pre-installed with the new screen.

Any repair may compromise your phone's water resistance. Success depends on proper application of new adhesives and clean mating surfaces.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Step 1 image

Thumbnail 2

Allow the Pixel's battery to drain below 25% before commencing repair, as a fully charged lithium-ion battery may ignite if compromised.

Ensure all cables are disconnected and the device is powered off completely.

Step 2 | Cracked glass preparation

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Cracked screens can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply packing tape strips to the cracked screen, covering it entirely but not overlapping onto the frame.
  • Maintain a single strip of tape along the top edge for suction cup adhesion, big enough for the cup to fit on.
  • Avoid applying tape directly to the phone's frame.
  • Wearing safety glasses is recommended to protect eyes from glass fragments during repair.

Step 3 | Heat the screen

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Improper heat gun use can damage the display or battery — follow safety guidelines.

  • Heat the entire screen with a hair dryer, heat gun, or heat pad until almost too hot to touch.
  • For a heat pad, set it to 60° C (140° F) and apply for 10 minutes with the phone facing down.

Step 4 | Apply a suction handle

Step 4 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Place a suction handle near the top edge of the screen, centered and as close to the edge as feasible.

Step 5 | Insert an opening pick

Step 5 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Reheat the screen as needed if the opening pick gets stuck.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the screen and frame.
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick completely under the screen, ensuring it is fully underneath and not just below the glass panel.
  • Only insert the pick about 5mm to avoid damaging the front camera.

Step 6 | Separate the screen adhesive

Step 6 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert an opening pick at the top edge and gently slide it along to loosen the adhesive.

Step 7

Step 7 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Continue sliding a pick around the perimeter of the screen until all adhesive is separated.

  • Leave picks inserted at the corners to prevent re-sealing.

Reheat the screen if it feels stuck.

Do not attempt to fully remove the screen yet, as it's still connected by a ribbon cable.

Step 8 | Prop up the screen

Step 8 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Flip top edge of screen over bottom edge and use suction handle or sturdy object to prop it up.

  • Access screen cable connector.
  • If still stuck, go back around perimeter with opening pick and separate remaining adhesive.

Step 9 | Remove the screen cable bracket

Step 9 image

Grip the screen cable just above its connector.

Careful not to damage the cable — if necessary, use a hair dryer or heat gun to lightly heat it before proceeding.

Step 12 | Remove the screen

Step 12 image

Remove the screen assembly.

Step 13 | Disassembly complete

Step 13 image

Phone reassembly begins now, following these instructions.

  • Remove old screen adhesive from the frame using a spudger's pointed end.
  • Roll adhesive onto itself to create a ball that can be easily removed.
  • If a large chunk forms, use tweezers to carefully pull it in the opposite direction of scraping.

Step 16

Step 16 image

Thumbnail 2

Wrap a microfiber or lint-free cloth around a spudger.

  • Apply one drop of high-concentration (90% or greater) isopropyl alcohol to the end.
  • Use the spudger to clean up remaining adhesive residue from the frame, adding more drops of alcohol as needed.
  • Allow the alcohol to dry completely before proceeding.

Step 17 | Orient the adhesive

Step 17 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Check if your replacement screen has pre-installed adhesive around its perimeter.

  • If yes, skip to step 10.
  • Otherwise, proceed with installing new screen adhesive on the frame (9 steps).

Apply screen adhesive correctly; incorrect application will require restart with new adhesive.

  • Hold the adhesive above the frame to determine its orientation.
  • Use cutouts in the liner and adhesive contours to visualize how it will sit.

Step 18 | Tape the screen cable down

Step 18 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Secure the screen cable by taping its middle section to the frame.

Ensure the tape does not obstruct the area where new adhesive is applied.

Step 19 | Remove the cable adhesive

Step 19 image

Thumbnail 3

Risk of damaging the screen cable or its connector if not careful.

  • Use a spudger to gently scrape up and remove old adhesive on the screen cable near the connector.

Continue with installation if no adhesive is present, leaving it in place.

Step 20 | Apply the adhesive

Step 20 image

Peel up the bottom half of the clear liner to expose the adhesive.

Do not fully remove the liner yet.

Step 21

Step 21 image

  • Lay the exposed bottom edge of the adhesive onto the frame, folding the clear liner towards the top of the phone for guidance.
  • Use the lip of the frame to help ensure accurate alignment.
  • Gently press down on the top corners to secure the adhesive in place.

  • Carefully inspect each area for varying liner types and locations.
  • Leave the screen cable adhesive liner near the bottom alone, you'll remove it later.
  • Note the location of liners near the front facing camera cutout and bottom edge.
  • Liners with pull tabs are usually easy to identify.

Step 28 | Remove screen liners

Step 28 image

  • To achieve a stronger bond, stack books against the back glass or use screen vise clamps.

Do not power on your Pixel until it is properly positioned on a flat surface.

Lay the phone screen-side up on a clean surface and carefully remove the plastic liner, ensuring no objects touch the phone during this process (fingers, screen protectors, or cases).

Follow any specific instructions provided on the adhesive liner for additional guidance.
