Any repair may compromise your phone's water resistance. Success depends on proper application of new adhesives and clean mating surfaces.
Allow the Pixel's battery to drain below 25% before commencing repair, as a fully charged lithium-ion battery may ignite if compromised.
Ensure all cables are disconnected and the device is powered off completely.
Cracked screens can cause injury or complicate disassembly.
Improper heat gun use can damage the display or battery — follow safety guidelines.
Place a suction handle near the top edge of the screen, centered and as close to the edge as feasible.
Reheat the screen as needed if the opening pick gets stuck.
Insert an opening pick at the top edge and gently slide it along to loosen the adhesive.
Continue sliding a pick around the perimeter of the screen until all adhesive is separated.
Reheat the screen if it feels stuck.
Do not attempt to fully remove the screen yet, as it's still connected by a ribbon cable.
Flip top edge of screen over bottom edge and use suction handle or sturdy object to prop it up.
Locate the screen cable bracket.
Use a spudger to carefully pry up and release the screen cable press connector.
Grip the screen cable just above its connector.
Careful not to damage the cable — if necessary, use a hair dryer or heat gun to lightly heat it before proceeding.
Remove the screen assembly.
Phone reassembly begins now, following these instructions.
Remove all remaining old adhesive from the frame.
If a large chunk forms, use tweezers to carefully pull it in the opposite direction of scraping.
Wrap a microfiber or lint-free cloth around a spudger.
Check if your replacement screen has pre-installed adhesive around its perimeter.
Apply screen adhesive correctly; incorrect application will require restart with new adhesive.
Secure the screen cable by taping its middle section to the frame.
Ensure the tape does not obstruct the area where new adhesive is applied.
Risk of damaging the screen cable or its connector if not careful.
Continue with installation if no adhesive is present, leaving it in place.
Peel up the bottom half of the clear liner to expose the adhesive.
Do not fully remove the liner yet.
Align the adhesive carefully with the frame, as it's extremely sticky and can't be repositioned once applied.
Apply remaining adhesive to the frame, pressing firmly in place while slowly removing the protective liner.
Press down firmly on the screen adhesive using a spudger to secure it to the .
Hold down the adhesive if it starts to peel up with the liner.
Press down firmly on the screen adhesive with a spudger to secure it to the frame.
Remove the tape holding the screen cable in place.
Remove all protective liners and tape from the underside of your replacement screen.
The exposed back of the screen is extremely fragile, so handle with care.
Prop up the screen using a sturdy object.
Locate the screen cable press connector.
Slide the screen cable bracket into place by pressing down on it and clicking it into position.
Remove the plastic liner from the screen cable adhesive.
Flip the screen down and suspend it above the frame.
Push the screen firmly onto the frame.
Hold your phone vertically and press firmly around its edges to reinforce the adhesive.
Do not power on your Pixel until it is properly positioned on a flat surface.
Lay the phone screen-side up on a clean surface and carefully remove the plastic liner, ensuring no objects touch the phone during this process (fingers, screen protectors, or cases).
Follow any specific instructions provided on the adhesive liner for additional guidance.
