Google Pixel 10 Pro Front Camera Replacement

This guide, written by iFixit staff, is not endorsed by Google. Learn more about our guides here. Replace your Google Pixel 10 Pro's front camera (selfie) using this repair guide. If the front camera image is fuzzy or blurry, or it no longer works, replace it with a new one.

  • Need replacement back glass and front camera adhesive to complete the repair.

Note: This repair may compromise your phone's water resistance. The outcome depends on the accuracy of the new adhesives' application and the cleanliness of the surfaces.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Allow the battery to drain below 25% charge before proceeding.

  • Disconnect all cables from the device.
  • Power off the Pixel completely by holding down the Power button until the screen turns off.

Cracked phone back glass can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply non-overlapping strips of packing tape across cracked glass, ensuring a single strip spans the bottom edge for suction cup attachment.
  • Cover only the glass itself and avoid adhering tape to surrounding frame areas.
  • Consider wearing safety glasses during repair to protect your eyes from loose glass shards.

Step 3 | Heat the bottom edge

Remove the adhesive holding the back glass to the frame by heating it.

  • Use an iOpener on the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes, or:
    • Apply heat from a hair dryer or heat gun, but be cautious and follow the linked instructions.

Improper use of a heat gun can cause damage to the display and/or battery.

Step 4 | Apply a suction handle

Position the suction handle on the back glass's lower edge, near the edge.

Hold the suction handle firmly and pull upwards with even force.

  • A gap should form between the back glass and frame.
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick into the newly formed gap.

Use the provided image as a guide for separating the adhesive from the device's frame.

  • Avoid inserting your pick in the area near the power button, where a cable connects the back glass.

Risk of damaging the cable if inserted incorrectly.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Apply heat if the back glass feels stuck.

  • Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick under the bottom left corner to prevent re-sealing.

Step 8 | Separate the bottom left adhesive

Insert a second pick under the bottom left corner of the device.

  • Slide the pick up the left edge until it reaches the power button.
  • Leave the pick inserted to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

Step 9 | Separate the right edge adhesive

Insert the pick under the bottom right corner of the back glass.

  • Slide the pick up the right edge.
  • Leave the pick inserted under the top right corner.

Step 10 | Separate the top edge adhesive

Insert a pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge and slightly around the top left corner, stopping at the bottom of the camera bump.
  • Do not attempt to fully remove the back glass yet, as it remains connected by a ribbon cable.

Step 11 | Prop up the back glass

Turn the back glass over the left side of the device and support it using the suction handle or another stable object.

  • If the back glass remains stuck, apply an opening pick to the edges and carefully pry apart any remaining adhesive.

Step 12 | Remove the bracket screws

  • Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and unscrew the two 5.8 mm-long screws securing the back glass connector bracket.

Risk of damaging battery or rear cameras — be cautious when handling.

  • Use tweezers to slide cover towards phone's center.
  • The tabs should unhook and the cover will come off.

Step 14 | Disconnect the back glass

Use the point of a spudger to gently pry up and disconnect the battery connector and back glass press connector.

Step 15 | Remove the back glass

Remove the back glass.

Step 16 | Remove the front camera connector cover

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screw securing the front camera connector cover using its corresponding screwdriver.

  • The screw is 5.7 mm long.
  • Be sure to use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver for this task.

Remove the cover.

Step 18 | Remove the front camera bracket

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screw using a corresponding screwdriver, located at the front camera bracket.

  • The screw has a length of 5.7 mm.

Push the front camera bracket's clip in and up using the point of a spudger.

  • Release the clip from its holder.
  • Remove the front camera bracket.

Step 20 | Disconnect the front camera

Disconnect the front camera press connector with a spudger.

Use the opening pick to carefully lift the front camera out of its recess.

  • Pry the front camera up gently from the top edge.
  • Once lifted, remove the front camera.

Step 22 | Disassembly complete

Reassembly of your phone begins now.

Step 23 | Remove the old front camera adhesive

Insert the point of the spudger under the old adhesive.

  • Gently pry up the adhesive with the spudger.
  • Use the tweezers to remove any remaining adhesive bits.

Apply isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) directly to a microfiber cloth wrapped around a spudger.

  • Clean any adhesive residue from the front camera recess with gentle scrubbing.
  • Allow the alcohol to dry completely before proceeding.

Step 25 | Install new front camera adhesive

Remove the large clear liner from the front camera adhesive.

  • Gently place it into the recess.
  • Press down firmly on the adhesive with a spudger to secure it.
  • Slowly peel up and remove the remaining liner.
  • If the adhesive peels up with the liner, lay it down and press it into place firmly before trying again.

Step 26 | Check for protective caps

Remove any protective cap from the new front camera.

Lay the front camera into its recess with the cable facing the bottom of the phone.

  • Press the camera firmly into place.

Avoid touching the rear cameras to prevent damage.

  • Insert the top corners of the front camera bracket under the lip in the frame.
  • Press the clip in firmly to secure it.

Install the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and secure the front camera bracket with the 5.7 mm-long screw.

Step 30 | Connect the front camera

Press the front camera press connector firmly with your finger.

  • Position the tab on the left edge of the front camera connector cover over its slot.
  • Lay the cover down flat in place.

Install the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and secure the front camera connector cover with a 5.7 mm-long screw.

Step 33 | Remove the old back glass adhesive

Old adhesive and residue can prevent proper adhesion of new adhesive.

  • Remove all remaining old adhesive using a suitable tool or solvent.
  • Thoroughly clean the frame to remove any residue.

When removing back glass adhesive, be cautious not to damage the battery or surrounding components.

  • Use the tip of a spudger to remove old screen adhesive from the frame.
  • Roll adhesive onto itself, creating a ball for easier removal.
  • If necessary, use tweezers to gently pull away large chunks.
  • To remove stubborn pieces, apply one drop of >90% isopropyl alcohol and scrape with the spudger.

  • Wrap a microfiber or lint-free cloth around a spudger.
  • Clean the remaining adhesive residue using a spudger and high-concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol, applying more drops as needed.
  • Allow the alcohol to dry completely before proceeding.

Repeat the cleaning procedures on the back glass

  • Clean all parts of the back glass thoroughly.
  • Apply a thin layer of adhesive remover to the back glass and spread evenly.

Locate the rear camera cutout on the liner and use it as a reference point for the adhesive's orientation.

  • Hold the adhesive above the phone's frame.
  • Determine how the adhesive will sit in relation to the frame before applying.
  • Apply incorrectly and you'll need to start over with new adhesive.

Expose the adhesive by peeling down the top half of the large, clear liner, but do not remove it completely.

Take your time aligning the adhesive with the frame, as it's very sticky and cannot be moved after application.

  • Lay the exposed top edge of the adhesive onto the frame with the larger, clear liner folded towards the bottom of the phone.
  • Use the lip of the frame to help align the adhesive.
  • Gently press down on the top corners to secure the adhesive once it's properly aligned.

Slowly apply the remaining adhesive to the frame, pressing firmly in place while removing the large liner.

Press down firmly on the adhesive with a spudger.

Slowly peel up and remove the large colored liner, gripping it from the cutout near the top edge.

  • If the adhesive starts to peel up with the liner, recheck that all of it has been seated properly with your spudger.
  • If it continues to peel, use the point of your spudger to hold it down while removing.

Step 43 | Remove any liners from the back glass

Remove all protective liners from the underside of the new back glass.

  • Check carefully for different liner types in various locations.
  • Paying special attention to front camera cutouts and bottom edge, remove liners by pulling their tabs.

Step 44 | Prop up the back glass

Position the suction handle on the back glass.

  • Prop it up on the left side with the cable near its connector.
  • Alternatively, use a sturdy object like a stack of books for support.

Step 45 | Reconnect the back glass and battery

Press down on one of the short sides of the back glass connector until it clicks into place.

Do not press down in the middle to avoid bending the pins and causing permanent damage.

  • Repeat on the other short side for a secure connection.
  • Make sure the connector is aligned before pressing down on both sides of wider connectors like the back glass one.

Align the back glass connector cover with its original position and ensure the tabs fit snugly into their corresponding slots.

Install the cover with the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver, using two 5.8mm-long screws.

Step 48 | Secure the adhesive

  • Use a spudger to firmly press the adhesive onto the frame.
  • Power on your device and test functions now, but be aware of potential issues that may require basic troubleshooting.

  • When finished testing, completely power down the device before proceeding.

Step 49 | Remove the remaining liners

Remove any remaining liners from the back glass adhesive.

  • If the adhesive starts to peel up with a liner, ensure all liners are fully seated.
  • If peeling persists, press down on the area with the point of your spudger as you work.

Step 50 | Install the back glass

Flip the back glass onto the frame.

  • Press it firmly into place.
  • To strengthen the bond, hold your phone up and squeeze around the perimeter.
  • For an even stronger bond, you can use a screen vise or stack books on the back glass.
