Google Pixel 10 Pro Bottom Speaker Replacement

  • Follow this guide to replace the bottom speaker (aka loudspeaker) in your Google Pixel 10 Pro if it's crackly, has static, or no sound.
  • The gasket between the speaker and frame may be compromised due to phone age or condition, affecting dust and water resistance.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Allow the battery to drain below 25% before proceeding to prevent potential damage.

  • Disconnect all cables from the Pixel.
  • Press and hold the Power button until the device powers down completely.

Glass shards can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply non-overlapping strips of packing tape to cracked back glass, covering it entirely.
  • Ensure a single strip of tape is applied across the bottom edge, large enough for suction cup attachment.
  • Avoid applying tape to the frame.

Wear safety glasses during this repair to protect your eyes from flying glass shards.

Step 3 | Heat the bottom edge

Improper heat gun use may damage display and/or battery — follow linked guidelines.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes to soften adhesive.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun (use with caution).

Step 4 | Apply a suction handle

Position the suction handle on the lower edge of the back glass, as near the edge as feasible.

Use a suction handle to create space between the back glass and .

  • Pull upwards with strong, steady force until a gap forms.

Locate the adhesive securing the back glass along the phone's frame perimeter.

  • Refer to the provided image for guidance during the separation process.
  • Avoid inserting your pick near the power button, as it may damage the nearby cable.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Apply heat if the back glass feels stuck.

  • Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-sealing.

Step 8 | Separate the bottom left adhesive

Insert a picks at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the pick up the left edge until reaching the power button.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent re-sealing of adhesive.

Step 9 | Separate the right edge adhesive

Insert a third pick under the bottom right corner of the back glass.

  • Slide the pick up the right edge.
  • Leave the pick inserted under the top right corner.

Step 10 | Separate the top edge adhesive

Insert a pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge and around the top left corner.
  • Stop at the bottom of the camera bump.

Do not attempt to fully remove the back glass yet, as it is still connected by a ribbon cable.

Step 11 | Prop up the back glass

Flip the back glass over the left side of the phone.

  • Use a suction handle or a sturdy object to prop it up.
  • If stuck, reapply an opening pick around the perimeter and separate any remaining adhesive.

Step 12 | Remove the bracket screws

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and use it to take out the two 5.8 mm long screws holding the back glass connector bracket.

Careful not to damage the battery or rear cameras.

  • Use tweezers to slide the cover towards the center of the phone.
  • Unhook the tabs to remove it completely.

Step 14 | Disconnect the back glass

Use the pointed end of a spudger to gently pry up and release the battery connector and back glass press connector.

Remove the back glass.

Step 16 | Remove the bottom speaker screws

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver's two 5.0 mm long screws holding the bottom speaker in place.

  • Identify the two screws
  • Loosen them with the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver

Step 17 | Remove the bottom speaker

Pull the speaker upwards, then detach it from the phone.

Now that you have completed disassembling your phone, follow these steps to put it back together.

  • Insert the bottom speaker with a slight downward tilt, ensuring the speaker gasket fits into its designated cutout.
  • Press the bottom speaker firmly down into its recess.

Install the bottom speaker using a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver. Secure with two 5.0 mm long screws.

Step 21 | Remove the old back glass adhesive

Remove all remaining old adhesive and its residue from the frame.

  • Take your time when cleaning the old adhesive for optimal results.
  • A clean frame is essential for ensuring a proper seal of the back glass.

Careful not to damage the battery or nearby components when removing old adhesive.

  • Use a spudger point to remove old screen adhesive from the frame, rolling it onto itself for easier removal.
  • To lift large chunks, use tweezers to slowly pull opposite to the scraping direction.
  • If needed, apply a single drop of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol (90% or more) and scrape up smaller adhesive chunks with your spudger.

  • Wrap a microfiber or lint-free cloth around a spudger.
  • Clean the frame with a mixture of spudger and high-concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol, applying more as needed.
  • Allow the alcohol to dry completely before proceeding.

Repeat the cleaning process on the back glass.

  • Rinse with distilled water.
  • Use a microfiber cloth and a gentle cleaner.

Step 25 | Orient the adhesive

Identify the adhesive's orientation by holding it above the phone frame.

  • Use the rear camera cutout on the frame liner as a reference point.
  • If you make a mistake, new adhesive will be required to restart the process.

Expose the adhesive by peeling down the top half of the clear liner.

Do not fully remove the liner yet.

Step 27 | Install the back glass adhesive

Take your time when aligning the adhesive with the frame as it's very sticky and cannot be moved after application.

  • Lay the exposed top edge of the adhesive onto the frame, folding the clear liner towards the bottom of the phone.
  • Use the lip of the frame to help guide the alignment of the adhesive.
  • Gently press down on the top corners to secure the adhesive once it's properly aligned.

Slowly apply remaining adhesive to frame, pressing firmly in place while peeling off larger liner.

Press down firmly on the adhesive with a spudger.

Adhesive may resist removal.

  • Peel up the large colored liner from near the top edge.
  • Check that all adhesive is seated before proceeding.
  • If adhesive peels, use your spudger to hold it down as you remove the liner.

Step 31 | Remove any liners from the back glass

Identify and remove protective liners and tape on new back glass installation.

  • Check various locations for different pieces of liner and tape.
  • Remove all liners from underside, focusing on front camera cutouts and bottom edge.

Be aware that liners may have pull tabs for easy removal.

Step 32 | Prop up the back glass

Position the back glass with the cable close to its connector.

  • Use a suction handle and place it on the left side of your phone.
  • Alternatively, use a sturdy object like books to prop up the back glass.

Step 33 | Reconnect the back glass and battery

Aligning connectors incorrectly may result in pin bending and permanent damage.

  • Press one short edge of the wider connectors, such as the back glass connector, until it clicks into place.
  • Repeat on the other short edge, ensuring proper alignment.
  • For wider connectors, avoid pressing down in the middle to prevent pin bending.

Press both sides firmly together to secure the connection.

Position the back glass connector cover and align its tabs with the corresponding slots.

Use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver to secure the cover with two 5.8 mm-long screws.

Step 36 | Secure the adhesive

Press the adhesive firmly onto the frame using a spudger.

Power on your device and test all functions, but be sure to power back down completely before continuing.

  • If issues persist, perform basic troubleshooting.

Step 37 | Remove the remaining liners

Remove any remaining liners from the back glass adhesive.

  • If the adhesive starts to lift with the liner, check that all adhesive has been pushed into place using a spudger.
  • If it continues to peel up, hold it down with the point of your spudger as you remove the liners.

Step 38 | Install the back glass

Ensure the back glass is properly seated to avoid damage.

  • Flip the back glass onto the frame and press it firmly into place.
  • Squeeze around the perimeter with your fingers while holding the phone upright.
  • For added security, apply pressure using screen vise clamps or stack books on the back glass.
