Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Flip and Base Battery Replacement

This repair guide is provided by iFixit and has not been endorsed by Google.

  • This replacement requires simultaneous replacement of flip and base battery in the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
  • Disassemble both sides of your phone to complete this repair, as both batteries must be replaced at once.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Step 1 image

Ensure the phone's battery is critically low (below 25%) to prevent potential fire hazards associated with lithium-ion batteries.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the device.
  • Power off the phone completely.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Step 2 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Secure the phone using one hand and apply a suction cup near the bottom edge.

Use strong, steady force to create a gap between the back cover and frame.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.
  • If your back cover is badly cracked, apply clear packing tape for better suction cup adhesion.

As a last resort, use superglue to attach the suction cup if other methods fail.

Step 3 | Separate the back cover adhesive

Step 3 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Adhesive along the right edge is thicker than elsewhere.

  • Insert opening pick at least 4 mm to start separating adhesive.
  • Remove suction handle from back cover.
  • Slide opening pick up right edge, starting from bottom corner.

Step 4

Step 4 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3 mm.

  • You can measure and mark your opening pick at 3 mm for reference.
  • Continue sliding the pick around the top right corner, then across the top edge of the back cover.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert the pick along the left edge of the device, working it around the bottom left corner to loosen any remaining adhesive.

Step 6

Step 6 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Do not remove the back cover yet as it is still connected to the phone by a cable.

  • The back cover should be separated from the frame at this point.
  • If there's still resistance around the edges, use an opening pick to separate any remaining adhesive.

Strain on the cable can cause damage — keep it secure while handling the back cover.

  • Lift the right edge of the back cover and swing it over the left edge of the phone.
  • Prop up the back cover with a suction handle or a clean, sturdy object to prevent straining the cable.

Step 7 | Remove the top bracket screws

Step 7 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Keep track of each screw's original location for reassembly.

  • For Pixel 10 Pro Fold, use Torx Plus or standard Torx bits (T3 or T4) with 3IP Torx Plus screws.
  • Apply constant, downward force to prevent screw stripping.
  • Use a Torx Plus 3IP driver to avoid damaging the top bracket's screws.

Step 8

Step 8 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert the point of a spudger into the clip and gently pry it away from the top edge of the frame.

  • Release the top bracket's clip and lift it up.
  • Remove the top bracket.

Step 9 | Disconnect the back cover cable

Step 9 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Risk of damage: Avoid prying near surface-mounted components.

  • Disconnect press connectors at the gold outlines on the logic board.
  • Pry only with the point of a spudger, avoiding other areas to prevent component dislodgment.
  • Use the spudger's point to disconnect the back cover cable.

Step 10 | Remove the back cover

Step 10 image

Remove the back cover from the device's frame.

  • Lift the back cover off the frame.
  • Separate the back cover completely.

Step 11 | Remove the vibrator screws

Step 11 image

Avoid applying excessive pressure, which can damage the surrounding components.

Step 17 | Soften the base battery adhesive

Step 17 image

Unfold your phone and flip it with the inner screen facing upwards.

Do not heat the inner screen for more than 30 seconds to avoid heat damage.

  • Use a hair dryer to gently warm the area behind the base battery until it's just too hot to touch with your bare skin.

Step 18 | Remove the base battery

Step 18 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Use finger stalls for improved grip on pull tabs.

  • Fold your phone with the base battery facing up.
  • Slide the pull tab back and forth toward the battery's bottom edge to separate the adhesive.

Step 19

Step 19 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

The battery adhesive is strong — take care when removing.

  • Pull straight up on the battery with constant force to separate the adhesive.
  • Work slowly, reapplying heat as needed until it separates.
  • Remove the base battery.

If trouble persists, apply more heat and try again.

  • If severe resistance or risk of damage to the battery, proceed with alternate method.

Step 20 | Separate the conductive fabric

Do not fully detach the screen yet as it is still linked by a cable.

  • The screen should be completely removed from the frame at this point.
  • If there's remaining resistance, employ an opening pick to dislodge any stuck adhesive.

Lift the left edge of the screen and swing it over the right edge of the phone in a book-like motion.

Use your suction handle or a sturdy object to prop up the screen securely.

Step 35 | Remove the display cable bracket screws

Step 35 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Keep track of each screw for reassembly.

  • The Pixel 10 Pro Fold uses Torx Plus screws, but standard Torx bits (T3 or T4) also work with the same size or one larger than required.
  • To prevent stripping, use constant downward force when removing screws.
  • Use a Torx Plus 3IP driver to remove the display cable bracket's three securing screws:

    • One 1.8 mm-long screw
    • Two 2.5 mm-long screws

Step 36 | Remove the display bracket

Step 36 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Hold the phone by its edges, avoiding the battery.

  • Pull the adhesive strip slowly and evenly at a low angle.
  • Avoid dragging on other components and give it time to stretch and separate from under the battery.

If the strip breaks, attempt to retrieve it using fingers or tweezers, then continue pulling.

Do not pry under the battery. If a strip cannot be retrieved, remove as much adhesive as possible and proceed with the alternate method.

Step 42 | Soften the flip battery adhesive

Step 42 image

Heating the inner screen for more than 30 seconds can cause permanent damage.

  • Unfold and flip your phone with the inner screen facing up.
  • Use a hair dryer to warm the section behind the flip battery (SIM card cutout area) until it's slightly too hot to touch, approximately 30 seconds.

Step 43 | Separate the flip battery adhesive
