Asus ZenFone 5 Battery Replacement
A dead or malfunctioning battery will prevent your Asus ZenFone 5 from holding a charge.
- Check if the battery needs replacement due to excessive charge cycles or rapid draining.
- Calibrate your battery by recharging and monitoring its capacity.
Before proceeding, power down your device and use ESD-safe tools to minimize damage risk.
Step 1 | Battery
Insert SIM card removal tool or paperclip end into small hole on left side of phone.
- Pull out SIM card tray.
Step 2
Apply heat to the back cover using a heat gun or an iOpener for easier removal.
- Insert a plastic opening pick into the crease between the back cover and midframe.
- Pry all the way around the phone to separate the back cover from the rest of the device.
Do not use a metal spudger, as it poses a puncture risk to the battery.
Step 3
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the six screws across the top mid frame.
- Lift the top assembly piece, being gentle to avoid damage.
The top assembly should detach easily and can be set aside.
Step 4
Release the red plastic retainer using a plastic opening tool.
- Remove the five Phillips #00 screws from the bottom midframe.
- Gently pull away the bottom midframe assembly.
Step 5
Use a halberd spudger to gently pry up the press fit connector from the motherboard.
- Pry the battery out of its case, taking care not to bend or puncture it.
- Apply heat through the screen if needed to loosen the battery adhesive.
