Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom Screen Replacement

  • Remove the back panel using a soldering iron.
  • Strip housings one by one, proceeding with caution.

Insert the SIM eject tool into the SIM card opening on the phone.

Press down firmly until the SIM card tray comes out completely.

Use the T2 screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located at the bottom of the phone near the charging port.

Insert the opening tool between the screen and the plastic body, then gently pry them apart.

Use the PH #00 tool to remove the two 3.3 mm screws located in the bracket to the top left of the battery.

  • Remove the bracket and screws.
  • Pull up the battery from the bottom of the unit.
  • Set the battery aside.

Remove the screws near the top of the phone using a PH #00.

  • The three screws have different lengths: top left and right are 3.25 mm, middle is 2.65 mm.
  • Remove all three screws.

Remove the black speaker wire from the left side of the phone by de-soldering its connection.

  • Detach the ribbon cables from the motherboard using the flat edge of a iFixit plastic spudger.
  • Target the cable connections for detachment.

  • Use tweezers to gently lift the edges of the motherboard located above the battery compartment.
  • Remove the motherboard from its socket.

Remove the speaker cover located at the bottom of the casing using a PH #00 screwdriver.

  • Take out all five 3.25 mm screws.

Use the iFixit plastic spudger's flat edge to gently pry off the ribbon cable from the speaker housing.

Disconnect and remove the speaker.

Apply iOpener to soften the adhesive holding the screen in place.

  • Leave it for 2-3 minutes or as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Gently pry the screen from the device using a plastic spudger.

Use a plastic flat-edge spudger to pry off the screen, starting from the right-hand side and working your way down.

Use the pry tool to carefully work your way along the edges of the phone until the screen separates.

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the screen by gently pulling it out of the exposed opening.

The completed repair will result in an exposed screen, detached from the main body of the device.
