ASUS ZENFONE 3 Zoom Motherboard Replacement

Using this guide may require soldering and other technical skills — improper handling of tools can cause injury.

  • Remove the back cover using a suitable tool to access the motherboard housing.
  • Disconnect and remove the battery to ensure safe work area.
  • A soldering iron will be required for subsequent steps.

Remove the SIM card tray using the sim card attachment and the screwdriver provided with the iFixit kit.

Remove T2 screwdriver-required 3.5 mm screws from both sides of the charging port at the phone's bottom.

Insert the opening tool between the screen and the plastic body, gently prying them apart.

  • The opening tool should be inserted at an angle to avoid damaging any components.

Remove the 3.3 mm screws in the bracket to the top left of the battery using the PH #00 attachment.

Remove bracket and screws.

  • Pull up on battery from the bottom of the unit.
  • Set aside battery.

Remove the screws near the top of the phone using a PH #00.

  • The two outer screws are 3.25 mm in length.
  • The middle screw is 2.65 mm in length.

Remove the black speaker wire from its solder point on the phone's left side.

Locate and carefully pry up both ribbon connectors using the flat edge of the iFixIt plastic spudger.

Use tweezers to gently lift the edges of the motherboard, situated above the battery location.

  • Lift upward on the motherboard's edges.
  • Remove the motherboard once it is freed.

Step 10

Remove all cable connectors from the motherboard.

  • Identify and disconnect the logic board connector from the battery connector.
  • Separate the antenna connections on the logic board.
  • Remove any other cables or connectors attached to the motherboard.
