ASUS ZENFONE 3 Zoom Back Camera Replacement
To replace the back camera on your Zenfone 3, follow these steps.
- You'll need to purchase replacement parts including the tweezers, Torx T2 screwdriver, a prying tool, and a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
- This repair is necessary if your back camera is faulty, displaying no picture or a distorted image.
Step 1 | Battery
Use tweezers to pull out the SIM card tray and place it aside.
Step 2
Use a Torx T2 screwdriver to remove the two 2 mm screws.
Step 3
Insert a prying tool between the screen and metal backing at the bottom of the phone.
- Fold the two pieces apart, keeping the inner side facing up.
- You may find a thin film connecting them; do not remove this.
Step 4
Remove the 2 x 3mm Phillips #00 screws from the silver band.
- Located at the top of the battery, use a screwdriver to remove them.
- After removal, take off the silver band.
Step 5
Remove and peel back the silver tape.
Step 6
Disconnect the battery connections.
Step 7
Handle the battery with care — risk of damage.
- Pry the battery away from its housing using a suitable tool.
- Be cautious when removing, as the underside may be stuck by adhesive.
Step 8 | Back Camera
- Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove three 3 mm screws.
- The screws are located on a black plastic piece at the top, on the right side.
Step 9
Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove three 3 mm screws from the metal surround housing the camera.
Step 10
Remove the 3 mm circuit board screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Step 11
Disconnect the two wire connectors from the circuit board.
Step 12
Remove the circuit board.
Step 13
Disconnect power from the camera.
