Asus ZenFone 2 Vibration Motor Replacement
The screws from the back are small, handle with care and use a mat or paper to prevent loss.
- Replace the vibration motor using a JIS size 00 head screwdriver.
- A prying tool will also be necessary for this task.
Step 1 | Removing the Back Cover
Position the fingertip under the indicated area on the phone.
- Use a gentle prying motion with your fingernail to release the back cover.
- Once the back cover is loose, slide your finger around its edges to remove it completely.
Step 2 | Remove the Inner Cover Screws
Remove the 13 black screws and the 1 silver screw from the back using a JIS 00 screwdriver.
- The black screws are 2.8 mm long.
- The silver screw is 5.5 mm long.
- To remove the black screw next to the camera and flash, pierce through the sticker covering it with the tip of the JIS 00 screwdriver
Step 3 | Remove the Inner Cover
Insert plastic opening tool under inner phone backing.
Tape may still hold some parts in place — work carefully to avoid damaging components.
- Gently lift the backing upwards using the plastic opening tool.
Step 4 | Remove the Speaker
Mark the location of the speaker unit for easy replacement.
- Remove the inner back panel to access the speaker.
- The speaker should slide out freely from the phone's back.
Step 5 | Vibration Motor
Remove the vibration motor using a plastic opening tool.
Unplug the vibration motor at the indicated location using a plastic opening tool. Risk of accidental start-up.
