Asus ZenFone 2 Battery Replacement

Replacing the battery will require significant effort and time.

  • Remove the bottom antenna.
  • Proceed with replacing the battery.

Step 1 | Removing the Back Cover

Insert your fingertip under the back cover at the marked point and use it to gently pry the cover loose.

  • Slide your fingertip around the edges of the phone while maintaining pressure on the cover.
  • The cover should now pop off when released from its locked position.

Step 2 | Remove the Inner Cover Screws

Remove all 13 black screws and 1 silver screw from the back of the phone using a JIS size 00 screwdriver.

  • Note that the black screws are 2.8 mm in length.
  • The silver screw is 5.5 mm in length.
  • There will be a sticker covering one of the black screws, next to the camera and flash. Use the tip of your JIS size 00 screwdriver to pierce through the sticker; do not attempt to remove the sticker first.

Step 3 | Remove the Inner Cover

  • Insert a plastic opening tool under the inner phone backing.
  • Lift the backing up gently, using the tool to loosen the two strips of double-sided tape.

Step 4 | Remove the Speaker

Record the speaker unit's location for accurate reinstallation.

  • Remove the inner back panel from the phone.
  • The speaker unit should now be free to remove from the back of the phone.

Step 5 | Battery

Be careful when detaching the antenna, it may bend or break.

  • Use a plastic prying tool to carefully detach the bottom part of the antenna.
  • Lift from underneath the cable as shown, avoiding damage to the antenna

Unlock the ribbon cable by prying up the yellow tab using a plastic opening tool.

Step 7

Remove the vibration motor from its housing using a plastic opening tool.

Remove the board gently from the phone using your hand.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully lift the ribbon cables as shown in the provided images.

Step 10

Be cautious when removing the battery pack from the phone as the fragile tabs on either side can be easily damaged.

  • Remove the battery pack from the phone using your hand.
  • Beware of the fragile tabs on both sides and handle with care to avoid damage.

Careful not to bend the metal housing when prying it from the battery.
