Asus ZenFone 2 Antenna Replacement

Replace the antenna with a JIS size 00 head screwdriver and a prying tool. CAUTION: Use a mat or paper to collect small back panel screws to prevent loss.

Step 1 | Removing the Back Cover

Locate the release tab on the back cover.

  • Use a fingernail to gently pry the cover at the indicated location.
  • Slide your finger along the edges to release the cover.

Step 2 | Remove the Inner Cover Screws

Remove the thirteen JIS 00 black screws and the single silver screw from the back using a JIS size 00 screwdriver.

  • The black screws are 2.8 mm in length.
  • The silver screw is 5.5 mm in length.
  • For the screw next to the camera and flash, remove any covering sticker with your screwdriver tip before proceeding.

Step 3 | Remove the Inner Cover

Insert a plastic opening tool under the inner phone backing.

  • Lift the backing away from the device, working along two strips of double-sided tape.

Step 4 | Remove the Speaker

Locate and take note of the speaker's position.

  • Remove the inner back panel to access the speaker unit.
  • The speaker should come out easily once the back panel is removed.

Step 5 | Remove the Antenna

Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry up both ends of the antenna.

  • Carefully remove the antenna wire from the plastic keepers along the side.
  • Mark their position for reassembly later.
  • Lift the cable from underneath, as shown, to avoid bending it out of shape.

Be careful not to bend or damage the antenna connections.
