Asus ZenFone 2 Laser Speaker Replacement
Short circuiting can cause damage — ensure tools do not create connections between components.
- Verify your phone's model is the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE551KL) before proceeding.
- Shut down the phone completely by following step 1 of this guide.
If display damage prevents normal shutdown, use steps 2 and 3 to manually shut down the phone.
- The Zenfone 2 Laser's rear-facing speaker produces audio for calls and media.
- This guide will help you replace the speaker if your phone has sound quality issues or no output at all.
Step 1 | Speaker
Press and hold the power button until the menu appears with the option to power off.
- If the power button does not function, proceed to manually force shutdown:
Be careful — damaging the device is possible if you continue using it while powered.
- Unplug the power cord and press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds to drain the capacitors.
- Release the power button and wait 30 more seconds before attempting to turn on the device again.
Step 2
Locate the notch on the lower right-hand side of the device.
Step 3
Remove the SIM cards and any microSD cards that are installed.
- Use a fingernail or a spudger to carefully pry the battery from its holder.
Step 4
- Remove ten 2.5mm Phillips #00 screws using a screwdriver.
- Remove two 5.5mm Phillips #00 screws using a screwdriver.
Step 5
Lift upwards on the lower part of the frame.
- If the camera gasket comes loose, reposition it around the camera lens.
Step 6
Insert the spudger into the gap between the speaker and phone.
- Gently lift up one side of the speaker using the spudger.
- Continue lifting until the speaker is completely detached from the phone.
- Ensure correct alignment of the speaker contacts to the pin on the circuit board.
