Asus Zenfone 10 USB-C Charging Port Replacement

The USB-C charging port has a persistent reliability issue despite testing with multiple working power adapters and cables, and after attempting physical cleaning and inspection.

  • Verify that all connections are secure and the cable is properly seated in the port.
  • Check for signs of wear or damage on the USB-C connector and surrounding area.

Step 1 | Remove SIM card tray

Power off the device.

  • Remove the SIM card tray using a proper tool.

Step 2 | Remove back cover

Warm the adhesive with a heat gun for 30 seconds.

  • Insert an opening pick along the edge of the phone.
  • Work the opening pick around the phone to separate the back cover.

Step 3 | Remove top cover

Be careful when handling the special-purpose screw highlighted in red.

  • Remove the nine Phillips #000 screws, highlighted in blue, using a Phillips #000 Screwdriver or bit.
  • Use a sharp instrument like a flathead screwdriver bit to remove the decal from the screw highlighted in orange.

Step 4 | Remove bottom cover

Remove the six highlighted screws using a Phillips #000 Screwdriver or a bit.

  • The orange-decaled screw requires removal of the decal first; use a sharp instrument like a flathead screwdriver bit.
  • Proceed to remove all six screws.

Step 5 | Remove bottom circuit board

  • Use an opening pick to carefully remove the circuit board.
  • Next, use the same opening pick to disconnect the two flat cables.

Step 6 | Replace the USB-C port

Detaching the flat cable from the case frees up the USB-C port.

  • Apply heat to loosen any stuck adhesive on the flat cable.
  • Install the replacement part in its original location.
  • Remember to remove the blue protective film covering the adhesive before installing the new cable.
