ASUS PadFone X Rear Facing Camera Replacement
Step 1 | Remove the back panel
Insert the blue plastic opening tool into the crease between the back cover and the phone.
- Pry the tool upward to loosen the back cover.
- Work your way around the phone until it is completely loose.
Step 2 | Remove the screws.
Remove thirteen 3.6mm screws with a Torx T5 bit.
Step 3 | Remove the Mid-Frame.
Insert blue plastic opening tool tip into crease between mid-frame and phone.
- Pry upwards along edge of phone, working your way around until entire back cover is loose.
- Remove mid-frame.
Step 4 | Remove the camera connector.
Avoid applying excessive force — risk of damaging the connector.
- Insert the blue plastic opening tool under the camera connector and gently pry it up from its socket on the motherboard.
Step 5 | Remove the camera.
Use tweezers to carefully lift the rear camera from the Padfone X.
The camera may be lightly glued to the motherboard; a plastic opening tool may be required to loosen the adhesive.
Step 6 | Replacing the camera.
Remove and discard the existing camera. Install a replacement camera.
