Padfone2 Station disassembly
Be careful not to damage the unit's casing or internal components when opening the Padfone 2 Station.
- Remove any external accessories from the station, such as cables or chargers.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the top cover in place.
- Gently pry open the unit along the designated seams with a plastic spudger.
Step 1 | Padfone2 Station disassembly
Opening your device will void its warranty.
- Ensure you have an opening tool and a small Philips screwdriver on hand, as shown in the diagram.
- Consider purchasing a refurbished or used PadFone2 Station to retain your broken device's spare parts.
Step 2 | Finding hidden screws
Use a cutter or knife to lift up and gently remove the adhesive foil for access to the 4 hidden screws.
- Remove the 4 screws.
Re-use the foil, but take care not to let particles adhere to it. Failure to attach the foil evenly during re-assembly may cause scratches on your phone display when sliding it into the Station.
Step 3 | Opening by unsnapping the back cover.
Protect the display glass with a sheet of foil or paper.
- Insert an opening tool between the back cover and plastic frame, keeping it at an angle of 70-90 degrees to the display surface.
- Slide the opening tool along each side until all snappers are open.
Step 4 | Open PadFone 2 Station
The mechanical design appears robust, but some components are glued in place.
- Use a small Philips screwdriver (Philips screwdriver) for all screws.
- Screw-mounted parts can be replaced individually:
- Battery
- Speakers
- Connectors
- Microphone
- Camera
- Switches
- Antennas
The display can be easily removed, but separating it into components (e.g. removing the top glass) is challenging.
Step 5 | Display removal
Do not proceed if not experienced in advanced disassembly.
- Remove edge screws from metal support bracket in logical order.
- Store screws on adhesive tape to aid re-assembly.
Unplug two flat cables from PCB-connectors:
- Lift the cable near power connector.
- Unlock second cable by flipping up white backside of its connector, then slide out.
Step 6 | Separating touch panel, LCD and plastic frame
Be extremely cautious when handling the screen components, as damage can occur easily.
- Place the entire unit in an oven and heat it to 70-80°C (softening point of the adhesive).
- Start on one edge and carefully lift up the LCD, taking care not to bend it excessively.
The plastic frame may require multiple heating iterations before removal.
