Discharge the battery below 25% before disassembling for safety.
Accidental damage during repair can cause a dangerous thermal event.
You'll need replacement adhesive for this repair.
Completely power off your phone before starting.
Do not proceed without a fully powered-down device.
Older phones may be difficult; apply more heat for better results or try again.
Slide the pick back and forth along the bottom edge to cut through the adhesive.
Leave the pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
Apply heat from a iOpener to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Apply suction cup near left edge of phone's back.
Exceeding 5 mm may damage internal components.
Insert an opening pick at the top of the left edge and slide it down towards the bottom left corner, cutting the adhesive.
Avoid cutting past where the camera shell meets the back cover to prevent cracking the plastic.
Leave the pick in place to maintain separation between the components.
Heat the iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the back cover for exactly 2 minutes.
Apply a suction cup to the back of the phone near the center of the right edge.
Insert the opening pick only 3 mm into the gap to avoid damaging the interconnect cable.
Insert an opening pick at the right edge of the back cover.
Insert the right-edge opening pick into the top-right corner of the phone.
Do not apply this procedure to the top-left corner, where the rear-facing camera is located.
Insert the top-most opening pick into the gap closest to the camera, working carefully not to damage surrounding components.
Apply iOpener to the camera shell for 2 minutes.
Rotate the back cover counterclockwise to create a gap between the camera shell and the frame.
If this method fails, proceed to the next step for an alternative solution. Otherwise, skip it and continue with the original plan.
Risk of cracking the plastic back cover. Use caution.
Insert an opening pick between the camera shell and frame to separate the adhesive.
Multiple heat applications may be required due to significant adhesive holding the frame in place.
Be cautious not to scratch the phone's flash area with the pick.
Cut through the additional adhesive to the right of the camera using a suitable tool.
Align the opening pick with your phone's flash.
Remove the back cover.
Do not continue until you have powered off your phone and removed any residual power sources.
For Samsung custom-cut adhesives, consult the specific guide provided.
If using double-sided tape, follow the instructions in a separate guide.
Remove the motherboard bracket using a Phillips screwdriver by unscrewing five 4 mm-long screws.
Do not touch the internal components while working.
Hold the motherboard bracket aside with tweezers or your fingers.
Do not press down on the middle of the connector — risk of pin damage.
Re-attach by aligning and pressing one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other side.
Hold the motherboard bracket aside with one hand.
Peel the wireless charging coil away from the phone using your fingers.
Insert the point of a spudger into the notch in the top-left corner of the loudspeaker.
Insert the flat-end of a spudger under the press connector.
Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up on the secondary interconnect cable's press connector.
Remove the secondary and primary interconnect cables using tweezers or your fingers.
Disconnect the display cable's bottom press connector with a spudger.
Disconnect the display cable's top press connector using a spudger.
Remove the display cable using tweezers or your fingers.
Do not puncture or bend the battery during removal.
If struggling to remove, try applying more isopropyl alcohol before repeating the removal attempt.
Apply suction cup firmly and use an opening pick to pry up.
If battery does not separate easily, add 1-2 drops of isopropyl alcohol.
Do not reinstall a damaged or deformed battery as it poses a potential safety hazard.
Temporarily reconnecting the battery to the motherboard helps with alignment, but ensure it's disconnected once seated.
