Samsung Galaxy Note USB Board Replacement

  • USB Board/Daughterboard Removal and Replacement Guide:

Step 1 | Stylus

Remove the stylus cap by grasping it and pulling it out of its slot in the midframe.

Step 2 | Rear Case

Insert a plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the small indentation located on the right side of the rear-facing camera.

Lift the rear case off the phone.

  • Hold the case at a 45° angle to release the clips.
  • Gently pry it away from the main body of the phone.

Step 4 | Battery

  • Insert your finger into the notch on the battery compartment.
  • Battery can be accessed by pressing it toward the rear-facing camera and simultaneously pulling outward.

Step 5 | MicroSD Card

Press the microSD card firmly with the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail to secure it in its slot.

  • Listen for a click, indicating the card is securely seated.
  • Release the card and it will automatically eject from the slot.

Do not force the microSD card out of its slot — risk of damage to the card or the slot.

  • For reassembly, push the microSD card into the slot until you hear a distinct click.

Remove microSD card from its slot in the midframe.

Step 7 | SIM Card

Push the SIM card out of its compartment using a plastic opening tool or your finger nail.

Use your thumb to push the SIM card all the way out, then lift it out of the device.

Step 9 | Midframe

Remove the nine 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe to the display assembly.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the midframe and the front panel assembly, located to the left of the power button.
  • Pry carefully with the tool.

Slide plastic opening tool along the seam.

Insert a plastic opening tool left of the headphone jack.

  • Slide it along the top edge, then continue around the phone's perimeter.
  • The midframe should separate from the display assembly.

Remove the magnesium midframe from the display assembly.

Step 14 | Motherboard Assembly

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully disconnect the display cable connector.

Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the front-facing camera assembly cable connector.

  • Next, disconnect the headphone jack/earpiece speaker assembly cable connector.
  • Finally, remove the digitizer cable connector.

Disconnect the soft button cable using a flat-end spudger.

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the USB board cable.
  • Remove the antenna cable connector.

Remove the two 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the motherboard in place.

Disconnect all cables connected to the motherboard.

  • Lift the motherboard out of its connector on the display assembly.

Step 19 | USB Board

Remove the three 3 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the speaker enclosure in place.

  • Screw location: Secure the speaker enclosure to the front panel assembly.

Step 20

Remove the speaker enclosure from the display assembly.

Disconnect the antenna cable connector from the USB board using the tip of a spudger.

  • Be careful not to damage the connector.

  • Remove the antenna cable.

Position the spudger at a shallow angle under the USB board.

  • Push gently with the flat end of the spudger to separate the USB board from the display assembly.

Disconnect and remove the USB board.
