Samsung Galaxy Note Rear Facing Camera Replacement

This guide is for installing a new rear-facing camera.

Step 1 | Stylus

Remove stylus cap by grasping it and pulling it out of its slot.

Step 2 | Rear Case

Use a plastic opening tool or your finger nail to pry in the small indentation located to the right of the rear-facing camera.

Lift the rear case off the phone.

  • Use a gentle prying motion to separate the case from the device.
  • Remove the rear case once it is loose.

Step 4 | Battery

Insert your finger into the battery compartment notch.

  • Press the battery towards the rear-facing camera, and at the same time, pull it outward.

Step 5 | MicroSD Card

Press the microSD card gently with the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail to hear the click.

  • Release the card and it will pop out.
  • For reassembly, push the microSD card into its slot until it clicks in place.

Locate and carefully remove the microSD card from its slot within the device's midframe.

Step 7 | SIM Card

Push the SIM card out of its compartment using a plastic opening tool or your fingertip.

  • Use your thumb to slide the SIM card further out of the device.
  • Once exposed, carefully lift it out completely.

Step 9 | Midframe

Remove the nine 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws

  • Securing the midframe to the display assembly.

Locate the gap between the midframe and the front panel assembly to the left of the power button.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool into this gap.
  • Pry gently with the tool to separate the midframe from the front panel assembly.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the seam and gently slide it downwards.

Insert the plastic opening tool to the left of the headphone jack between the midframe and display assembly.

  • Slide the tool along the top edge of the phone.
  • Run the tool around the perimeter until the midframe is separated.

Remove the midscreen by gently prying it away from the display.

Step 14 | Motherboard Assembly

Disconnect the display cable connector using the flat end of a spudger.

Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the front-facing camera assembly cable connector.

  • Next, disconnect the headphone jack/earpiece speaker assembly cable connector.
  • Finally, disconnect the digitizer cable connector.

  • Disconnect the soft button cable using a flat-end spudger.
  • Remove the USB board cable with a spudger.
  • Separate the antenna cable connector.

Step 17

Remove the two 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the motherboard to the display assembly.

Disconnect the motherboard cables and gently lift out the motherboard assembly.

Step 19 | Rear Facing Camera

Use a plastic opening tool to flip the release tab of the rear-facing camera cable ZIF connector.

  • Pry only on the tab — avoid touching the connector.

Step 20

Insert the spudger tip into the gap beside the rear-facing camera cable at the ZIF connector.

Careful not to damage the light adhesive.

  • Gently slide the spudger under the cable to release it from the connector.

Step 21

Disconnect and remove the rear-facing camera.
