This repair guide is for replacing or removing the motherboard.
Insert a plastic opening tool into the divot located to the right of the rear-facing camera.
Alternatively, use your fingernail but be cautious not to scratch the surrounding area.
Remove the rear case from the phone.
Insert finger into the notch of the battery compartment.
Use the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail to press the microSD card deeper into its slot.
Remove the microSD card from its slot in the midframe.
Use a plastic opening tool, or your finger nail, to push the SIM card out of its compartment.
Slide the SIM card out completely with your thumb.
Remove the nine 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe to the display assembly.
Pry the midframe away from the front panel assembly using a plastic opening tool, inserting it to the left of the power button.
Insert plastic opening tool into seam and slide down.
Insert a plastic opening tool between the midframe and display assembly, left of headphone jack.
Remove midframe from display assembly.
Disconnect the display cable connector using the flat end of a spudger.
Locate and carefully detach the front-facing camera assembly cable using a spudger.
Remove the soft button cable connector using a flat-end spudger.
Remove the two 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws.
Remove the motherboard assembly from the display assembly.
Flip the release tab on the rear-facing camera cable ZIF connector using a plastic opening tool.
Do not pry directly on the connector — risk of damage.
Insert the spudger under the rear-facing camera cable and gently pry it away from the ZIF connector, releasing its hold due to a small amount of light adhesive.
Remove the rear-facing camera.
