Samsung Galaxy Note Display Assembly Replacement

This guide will help you replace the front panel display assembly on your Samsung Galaxy Note.

Step 1 | Stylus

Remove the stylus cap from the midframe by grasping it and pulling it out.

Step 2 | Rear Case

Insert a plastic opening tool or your fingertip into the recess located to the right of the rear-facing camera, close to the volume control.

Remove rear case by lifting it off.

Step 4 | Battery

Locate the battery compartment's notch and insert a finger.

  • Press the battery toward the rear-facing camera.
  • Pull the battery outward while continuing to press.

Step 5 | MicroSD Card

Press the microSD card firmly into its slot using the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail.

  • Continue pressing until you hear a click, then release the card.
  • The microSD card will pop out of the slot.

The microSD card may be difficult to remove after it has clicked into place.

  • To reassemble, press the microSD card firmly into its slot until you hear another click.

Step 6

Release the microSD card from its slot on the midframe.

Step 7 | SIM Card

Push the SIM card out of its compartment with the tip of a plastic opening tool or your fingertip.

  • Push the SIM card further out with your thumb.
  • Remove the SIM card completely from the device.

Step 9 | Midframe

  • Remove the nine 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe to the display assembly.

Insert a plastic opening tool between the midframe and front panel assembly, left of the power button.

  • Pry gently with the tool.

Insert the plastic opening tool along the edge of the device.

Insert a plastic opening tool to the left of the headphone jack between the midframe and display assembly.

  • Slide the opening tool along the top edge of the phone.
  • Continue running the plastic opening tool around the perimeter until the midframe is separated.

Remove midframe from display assembly.

Step 14 | Motherboard Assembly

Disconnect the display cable using the flat side of a spudger.

  • Disconnect the front-facing camera assembly cable using a spudger.
  • Remove the headphone jack/earpiece speaker assembly cable connector.
  • Separate the digitizer cable from its connector.

Use a flat-end spudger to carefully disconnect the soft button cable connector.

  • Next, use another spudger to disconnect the USB board cable connector.
  • Finally, disconnect the antenna cable connector.

Remove the two 3.4mm Phillips #00 screws securing the motherboard.

  • To the display assembly.

Disconnect the motherboard connectors to release the motherboard.

  • Separate the motherboard from the display panel.

Step 19 | Display Assembly

Remove the 2 x 3 mm Phillips #00 screws from the upper display assembly bracket.

Remove the upper display assembly bracket using either a pair of tweezers or your fingers.

Remove the front-facing camera assembly with tweezers or your fingers.

Position the tipped end of a spudger at the edge of the headphone jack/earpiece speaker assembly.

Pry the assembly gently outward from the display assembly.

Remove the headphone jack/earpiece speaker assembly using a pair of tweezers or your bare fingers.

Step 24

Remove three 3 mm Phillips #00 screws from the speaker enclosure.

  • The screws secure the enclosure to the front panel assembly.

Step 25

Remove the speaker enclosure from the display assembly.

  • Disconnect the antenna cable connector using the tip of a spudger.
  • Remove the antenna cable.

Insert the flat edge of a spudger at a shallow angle under the USB board, separating it from the display assembly.

  • Avoid bending or damaging the USB board by keeping the insertion angle low.

Disconnect the USB board from the main circuitry.

Insert the spudger tip under the vibrator connector cable near its contacts, and slide it towards the vibrator.

Step 30

Insert flat-end spudger under vibrator connector cable.

  • Pry cable up from adhesive.

Step 31

Disconnect the vibrator from the display assembly.
