iPhone XS Max Back Glass Replacement

This instructional document is designed for qualified repair technicians.

The initial procedure in back glass refurbishment involves separating the glass component. We will utilize the "iPhone XS Max" model to illustrate an effective method for replacing a damaged back glass, avoiding complete phone disassembly and the use of a laser machine.Demonstration of refurbishment techniques will be performed on an iPhone XS Max to ensure efficient replacement of a fractured back glass.

Step 1 | Back Glass Separating Without Phone Disassembling

Step 1 image
  • The iPhone XS Max exhibits damage to its rear glass panel.
  • Initially, execute a diagnostic function test to assess device operation.
  • Successful completion of the preceding steps indicates proper functionality.
  • Verify wireless charging capability to confirm its operational status without encountering issues.

Step 2

Step 2 image
  • Employing the Laser Machine, perform a scan of the rear glass surface.
  • Deactivate the device's power and position it inverted beneath the focus positioning probe, then initiate autofocus by pressing the corresponding button on the control panel.
  • Position the powered-off device, oriented upside down, onto the operating panel while observing the focus length indicator.

Step 3

Step 3 image
  • Execute the designated software application to initiate the process.
  • Select the appropriate model and associated technical drawings for reference.
  • Ensure all operational settings are configured to their required values.
  • Important observation:During laser light scanning operations, expect the generation of particulate matter; therefore, activate the Air Purifier to mitigate potential airborne contaminants.

Step 4

Step 4 image
  • Upon completion of the repair process, the rear glass panel will allow visual transmission.
  • Reactivate the device and execute the diagnostic test sequence to confirm functionality.
  • Successful operation is indicated by the absence of errors during the testing phase.
  • The device's capability to receive power through inductive charging is also verified.

Step 5

Step 5 image
  • To proceed, detach the rear glass component from the central structural frame; the tempered glass panel exhibits straightforward separation characteristics.
  • Employ the metal separation tool by inserting its tip into the space existing between the rear glass and the mid-frame, then utilize a reciprocating motion to facilitate their disengagement.

Step 6

Step 6 image
Following complete detachment of the rear glass component, utilize the laser tool to eliminate any remaining adhesive substance from the mid-frame structure.

Step 7

Step 7 image
  • After completion of the preceding steps, a comprehensive cleaning of the mid-frame is essential.
  • A quantity of B7000 adhesive should be applied to the mid-frame surface to facilitate bonding.
  • Secure the replacement large back glass into its designated location, ensuring firm pressure during adhesion, then immobilize the device using clamps for several minutes to allow for complete adhesive curing.
