iPhone 6 Plus Speaker Replacement

Follow these instructions to substitute a new speaker unit.

Step 1 | Pentalobe Screws

Step 1 image
To prevent potential fire or explosion hazards during disassembly, ensure the lithium-ion battery's charge level is reduced to less than 25%; a fully charged battery poses a significant risk of ignition if damaged.
To prevent electrical shock or damage, ensure the iPhone is completely de-energized prior to starting the repair process.
Using a Pentalobe screwdriver, detach the two screws measuring 3.6 mm located adjacent to the Lightning connector.

Step 2 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Step 2 image

To simplify the opening process, the following two steps utilize the Anti-Clamp tool; if you do not have this tool, proceed to the instructions three steps further down.
Refer to the accompanying guide for detailed procedures regarding Anti-Clamp operation.
To release the Anti-Clamp's arms, move the blue handle in a rearward direction.
Position the arms so they clear the left or right side of the iPhone, then move them into place.
Secure two suction cups, one to the front and one to the rear surface of the iPhone, placing them close to the lower edge, directly above the home button.
Apply vacuum by pressing the cups firmly against the surface needing treatment.
To improve the Anti-Clamp's grip if the iPhone's exterior feels excessively smooth, apply adhesive tape to the device's surface.

Step 3

Step 3 image

To secure the arms, advance the blue handle in the direction indicated.
Rotate the handle fully, completing a 360-degree turn, observing for the point at which the cups begin to expand.
Maintain parallel positioning of the suction cups; should misalignment occur, gently release the suction cups' hold and reposition the arms.
Once sufficient space is created by the Anti-Clamp, carefully slide a separation tool or opening pick beneath the display assembly.
To ensure adequate separation, reposition the handle by 90 degrees.
Allow several seconds to elapse and avoid rotating the component beyond a 90-degree increment during tightening; permitting the Anti-Clamp feature and time to facilitate proper seating.

Step 4 | Front Panel Assembly

Step 4 image
Carefully employ one suction cup to raise the front panel.
Securely affix a suction cup to the display surface, positioning it directly over the home button area.
Ensure a leakproof connection by firmly applying pressure to the cup against the screen's surface.
To facilitate suction cup attachment when the display exhibits severe cracking, apply a sheet of clear packing tape across the damaged area; as an alternative, a robust adhesive tape can be utilized in place of the suction cup. Should these methods prove ineffective, secure the suction cup directly to the fractured screen using superglue.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Using one hand to secure the iPhone, lift the suction cup vertically to gently create a small gap between the front panel and the rear enclosure.
Exercise caution and use steady, even pressure when installing the display assembly, as its fit is considerably more snug than typical device components.
Carefully separate the rear case from the display assembly by gently levering it away with a plastic opening tool, maintaining upward traction on the display using the suction cup.
To release the front panel assembly from the rear case, carefully disengage the multiple retaining clips, which may require using both the suction cup and a plastic opening tool.

Step 6

To detach the suction cup, depress the small plastic projection to break the airtight seal.
Detach the display assembly's suction cup.

Carefully pivot the front panel assembly upwards, utilizing the phone's upper edge as a fulcrum to disengage the home button area from the rear case.
Carefully position the display at a 90-degree angle, then secure it in an upright position using a support to allow for hands-free access during the repair process.
To avoid stressing the display's wiring during the repair process, secure it with a rubber band.
As a temporary measure, an unused, sealed aluminum can designed for beverages can substitute for the display during the repair process.

Step 8

Step 8 image

The front panel assembly pivots outward, resembling a book opening, due to multiple clips situated along its upper edge, which function as a partial hinge.
Ensure the clips, positioned directly beneath the rear case's upper border, are correctly aligned before sliding the front panel upwards. The front panel’s top edge should then be level with the rear case’s top edge.

Step 9

Step 9 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the battery connector bracket by unscrewing the included fasteners.
A single screw, measuring 2.3 millimeters, is required.
A single screw, measuring 3.1 millimeters, is required.

Step 10

Step 10 image
Using a precision screwdriver, detach the metal bracket securing the battery connector.

Step 11

Step 11 image
Carefully lift the battery connector away from its corresponding socket on the logic board, employing either a clean fingernail or the tip of a specialized opening tool to avoid damage.
To prevent damage, focus your lifting force solely on the battery connector itself, avoiding any pressure on the logic board socket; applying force to the socket risks irreparable damage to the connector.

Step 12

Step 12 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the cable bracket from the front panel assembly by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place.
Use three screws, each measuring 1.2 millimeters.
A screw with a 1.5 mm head diameter is required.
A single screw, measuring 2.9 millimeters, is required.
Using screws longer than the specified length in the red-marked holes risks causing permanent damage to the logic board.

Step 13

Step 13 image
Detach the cable bracket securing the front panel assembly wiring harness to the logic board.

Step 14

Step 14 image

When proceeding with the subsequent four steps, ensure that lifting force is applied solely to the cable connectors themselves, avoiding any upward pressure on the corresponding sockets located on the logic board.
Carefully maintain support for the front panel and then, using a fingernail or a thin opening tool, release the front camera and earpiece speaker connector from its housing.

Step 15

Step 15 image

Carefully detach the connector securing the home button cable.

Step 16

Step 16 image

Prior to either detaching or reattaching the cable in this procedure, ensure the battery is disconnected.
Carefully detach the display data cable connector using a plastic opening tool.
A disconnected display data cable during reassembly may cause a blank screen or white lines upon powering on; to resolve this, firmly reseat the cable and restart the device, preferably by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery connector.

Step 17

Step 17 image

Carefully detach the digitizer cable connector.
To avoid component bending and potential digitizer damage, apply pressure to one end of the digitizer cable connector, then to the opposite end when reattaching it, rather than pressing the connector's center.

Step 18

Step 18 image
Detach the front panel assembly from the rear case.

Step 19 | Disconnect Charge Port

Using tweezers, gently free the interconnect antenna cable from its guide on the vibrator assembly.

Step 22

Step 22 image
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, detach the vibrator from the rear case by unscrewing the two 2.5 mm screws that hold it in place.

Step 23

Step 23 image
Carefully detach the iPhone's vibrator component.

Step 24 | Speaker

Step 24 image

Using tweezers, gently disengage the antenna connector from its designated pathway within the speaker assembly.

Step 25

Step 25 image
Carefully retract the metal clip that fastens the antenna connector to the speaker assembly to ensure complete disconnection.

Step 26

Step 26 image
  • Detach the speaker from the rear case by unscrewing the specified fasteners.
A Phillips head screwdriver, size #00, is needed to remove a screw measuring 2.3 millimeters.
