iPhone 6 Plus Earpiece Speaker Replacement

Follow these instructions to substitute a new earpiece speaker.

Step 1 | Pentalobe Screws

Step 1 image
To prevent a fire or explosion hazard from a potentially damaged lithium-ion battery, ensure its charge level is below 25% prior to beginning any disassembly procedures on your iPhone.
To prevent electrical shock or damage to components, ensure the iPhone is completely de-energized prior to starting the repair process.
Using a Pentalobe screwdriver, detach the two screws measuring 3.6 mm located adjacent to the Lightning connector.

Step 2 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Step 2 image

To simplify the opening process, the following two steps utilize the Anti-Clamp tool, a custom-designed aid; if you do not have this tool, proceed to the instructions three steps further down.
Refer to the included guide for detailed procedures regarding Anti-Clamp operation.
To release the Anti-Clamp's arms, move the blue handle in a rearward direction.
Position the arms so they clear the left or right side of the iPhone, then move them into place.
Secure the iPhone by placing suction cups, each measuring approximately 1/8 inch in diameter, on the front and rear surfaces, close to the lower edge and directly above the home button.
Apply vacuum by pressing the cups firmly against the surface you intend to work on.
To improve the Anti-Clamp's adherence if the iPhone's exterior feels excessively smooth, apply adhesive tape to the device's surface.

Step 3

To secure the arms, advance the blue handle in the direction indicated.
Rotate the handle fully, completing a 360-degree turn, observing for the initial expansion of the cups.
Maintain parallel positioning of the suction cups; should they become misaligned, gently release the suction and reposition the arms.
Once sufficient space is created by the Anti-Clamp, carefully slide a prying tool or opening pick beneath the display assembly.
To ensure adequate separation, reposition the handle by 90 degrees.
Allow the Anti-Clamp device to function, and permit several seconds to pass between each incremental tightening of no more than 90 degrees.

Step 4 | Front Panel Assembly

Step 4 image
Carefully employ one suction cup to raise the front panel.
Secure a suction cup to the display surface, positioning it directly over the home button area.
Ensure a complete seal by firmly applying pressure to the cup against the screen's surface.
To facilitate suction cup attachment when the display has severe cracking, apply a sheet of clear packing tape across the damaged area; as an alternative, a robust adhesive tape can be used directly. Should these methods prove ineffective, secure the suction cup to the fractured screen using superglue.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Using one hand to secure the iPhone, lift the suction cup vertically to gently create a small gap between the front panel and the rear enclosure.
Exercise caution and use steady, even pressure when installing the display assembly, as it requires a more precise fit than typical device components.
Carefully separate the rear case from the display assembly by gently levering it downwards with a plastic opening tool, maintaining upward traction on the display using a suction cup.
To release the front panel assembly from the rear case, carefully disengage the multiple retaining clips, which may require utilizing both the suction cup and plastic opening tool.

Step 6

To detach the suction cup, extend the small plastic projection to break the airtight seal.
Detach the display assembly's suction cup.

Step 7

Carefully pivot the front panel assembly upward, leveraging the phone's upper edge as a fulcrum to disengage the home button area from the rear case.
Carefully position the display at a roughly 90-degree angle, then secure it in place using a support to prevent it from falling during the repair process.
To avoid stressing the display's wiring during the repair process, secure it with a rubber band.
As a temporary substitute, an unused, sealed can of soda can be employed to secure the display in place.

Step 8

Step 8 image

The front panel assembly pivots outward, resembling a book opening, due to multiple clips situated along its upper edge, which collectively function as a partial hinge.
To reassemble, position the clips beneath the rear case's upper border, and subsequently move the front panel upwards, ensuring its top edge aligns perfectly with the rear case's top edge.

Step 9

Step 9 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the screws securing the battery connector bracket.
A single screw, measuring 2.3 millimeters, is required.
A single screw, measuring 3.1 millimeters, is required.

Step 10

Step 10 image
Detach the bracket securing the battery connector using a tri-point screwdriver.

Step 11

Step 11 image
Carefully lift the battery connector away from its corresponding socket on the logic board, employing either a clean fingernail or the tip of a specialized opening tool to avoid damage.
To avoid complete damage to the connector, apply lifting force solely to the battery connector itself, ensuring you do not engage the logic board socket. Applying force to the logic board socket risks irreversible connector breakage.

Step 12

Step 12 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the cable bracket from the front panel assembly by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place.
Use three screws, each measuring 1.2 millimeters.
A screw with a 1.5 mm diameter is required.
A screw with a diameter of 2.9 millimeters is required.
Inserting screws with a greater length than those specified for the red-marked screw holes risks causing permanent damage to the logic board; therefore, avoid this action.

Step 13

Step 13 image
Detach the bracket securing the front panel assembly cable to the logic board.

Step 14

Step 14 image

When proceeding with the following four actions, ensure that lifting force is applied solely to the cable connectors themselves, avoiding any upward pressure on the corresponding sockets located on the logic board.
Carefully maintain support for the front panel and then, using a fingernail or a thin opening tool, release the front camera and earpiece speaker connector from its housing.

Step 15

Step 15 image

Carefully detach the home button cable connector.

Step 16

Step 16 image

Prior to either detaching or reattaching the cable in this procedure, ensure the battery is disconnected.
Carefully detach the display data cable connector using a plastic opening tool.
A disconnected display data cable during reassembly may cause a blank screen or white lines upon powering on; to resolve this, ensure the cable is firmly seated and restart the device by briefly disconnecting and reconnecting the battery connector.

Step 17

Step 17 image

Carefully detach the digitizer cable connector.
To avoid damaging the digitizer, ensure the connector is secured by applying pressure to its opposing ends, rather than the central portion; central pressure may warp the component.

Step 18

Step 18 image
Detach the front panel assembly by disengaging it from the rear case.

Step 19 | Earpiece Speaker

Step 19 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the upper component bracket by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place.
A screw with a 1.5 mm diameter is required.
Use two screws, each measuring 2.3 millimeters.

Step 20

Step 20 image
Carefully detach the earpiece bracket, ensuring it is fully disengaged from the display assembly.

Step 21

Step 21 image
Carefully separate the front camera and display cable connectors from the device's circuit board by using the flat spudger tip to lever them upwards, then move the cables out of the way.

Step 22

Step 22 image
Carefully use tweezers to secure a firm grip on the earpiece speaker and detach it from the display assembly.
