For those utilizing the Anti-Clamp tool, the following two actions illustrate its use to simplify the opening process; otherwise, proceed directly to the instructions three steps further down for an alternative approach.
Refer to the included guide for detailed procedures regarding Anti-Clamp operation.
To release the Anti-Clamp's arms, move the blue handle in a rearward direction.
Position the arms so they clear the left or right side of the iPhone, then move them into place.
Affix two suction cups, one to the front and one to the rear surface of the iPhone, close to the lower edge, situated directly above the home button.
Apply vacuum by pressing the cups firmly against the surface needing treatment.
To enhance the Anti-Clamp's grip if the iPhone's exterior feels excessively smooth, apply adhesive tape to the device's surface.

Step 3

Step 3 image

Moving the blue handle in a forward direction will engage the locking mechanism for the arms.
Rotate the handle fully, completing a 360-degree turn, observing for the initial signs of cup expansion.
Maintain parallel positioning of the suction cups; should misalignment occur, gently release the suction cups' hold and reposition the arms.
Once sufficient space is created by the Anti-Clamp, carefully slide a prying tool or opening pick beneath the display.
To ensure adequate space, reposition the handle by 90 degrees if the Anti-Clamp's current position isn't providing enough clearance.
Allow the Anti-Clamp device to function, pausing for several seconds and limiting each rotation to a maximum of 90 degrees to ensure proper seating.

Step 4 | Front Panel Assembly

Step 4 image
Carefully employ a suction cup to raise the front panel.
Securely affix a suction cup to the display surface, positioning it directly over the home button area.
Ensure the screen is firmly seated against the cup to create a complete seal.
To facilitate suction cup attachment when the display has severe cracking, apply a sheet of clear packing tape across the damaged area; as an alternative, a robust adhesive tape can be used in place of the suction cup. Should neither of these methods work, superglue can be employed to secure the suction cup directly to the fractured screen.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Using one hand to secure the iPhone, lift the suction cup vertically to gently create a small gap between the front panel and the device's back cover.
Exercise caution and use steady, even pressure when installing the display assembly, as its tolerances are significantly less forgiving than those typically found in other devices.
Carefully separate the rear case from the display assembly by gently levering it downwards with a plastic opening tool, maintaining upward traction on the display using a suction cup.
To release the front panel assembly from the rear case, carefully disengage the multiple retaining clips, employing both the suction cup and plastic opening tool as needed.

The front panel assembly pivots outward, resembling a book opening, due to multiple clips situated along its upper edge, which collectively function as a partial hinge.
Position the clips beneath the rear case's upper border, then advance the front panel vertically until its superior edge is level with the rear case's top edge.

Step 9

Step 9 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the battery connector bracket by unscrewing the included fasteners.
A single screw, measuring 2.3 millimeters, is required.
A single screw, measuring 3.1 millimeters, is required.

Step 10

Step 10 image
Detach the bracket securing the battery connector using a tri-point screwdriver, ensuring no damage occurs to surrounding components.

Step 11

Step 11 image
Carefully lift the battery connector away from its corresponding socket on the logic board, employing either a clean fingernail or the tip of a specialized opening tool to avoid damage.
To avoid damaging the logic board, apply lifting force solely to the battery connector; applying force to the socket itself risks irreversible connector breakage.

Step 12

Step 12 image
Using a Phillips screwdriver, detach the cable bracket from the front panel assembly by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place.
Use three screws, each measuring 1.2 millimeters.
Use a 1.5-millimeter screw.
A single screw, measuring 2.9 millimeters, is required.
Inserting screws with a length exceeding the specified size into the screw holes identified by the red markings risks causing permanent damage to the logic board.

Prior to either detaching or reattaching the cable in this procedure, ensure the battery is disconnected.
Carefully detach the display data cable connector using a plastic opening tool.
Should the display data cable become detached from its connector during reassembly, a blank screen or white lines may appear upon powering on the device; to resolve this, re-establish the cable's connection and restart the phone, preferably by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery connector to ensure a complete power cycle.

Step 17

Step 17 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Carefully detach the digitizer cable connector.
To avoid damaging the digitizer, ensure the connector is properly seated by applying pressure to its opposing ends, rather than the central area; central pressure can deform the component.

Step 18

Step 18 image
Detach the front panel assembly from the rear case.

Step 19 | Battery

Step 19 image
Carefully separate the adhesive securing the battery by lifting the bottom right corner of the battery's adhesive tab.
Exercise caution and use either your fingertips or a tool with a rounded, non-sharp tip to avoid damaging components, especially when in the vicinity of the lithium-ion battery; a puncture to this battery type poses a risk of releasing hazardous substances and potentially igniting a fire.

Step 20

Step 20 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
To prevent the strips from adhering and tearing, maintain their flatness and avoid creases throughout this step.
Gently draw the adhesive strip, extending it downwards along the iPhone's length, separating it from the battery surface with a slow, controlled motion.
Gently extend the strip to allow for give before applying additional force; if resistance isn't noticeable, reduce the pulling pressure to prevent breakage.
Gently draw the strip outwards, maintaining a shallow angle to prevent the adhesive from adhering to any nearby parts along the phone's bottom edge.
Avoid applying pressure to the battery while removing the strip.
Apply gentle, consistent tension to the strip; it is designed to extend significantly beyond its initial size. Maintain this slow, steady force until the strip detaches and clears from beneath the battery.
Should the battery's adhesive strips tear apart while removing it, carefully gather any detached adhesive fragments with your fingers or a tool possessing a flat, non-piercing edge, then proceed with the extraction.
Should the adhesive securing the battery tear or become inaccessible during removal, carefully detach any visible portions of the strips and continue with the subsequent steps.

Step 21

Step 21 image

Thumbnail 2
Carefully separate the second adhesive layer securing the battery from its opposite side.
Gently draw the adhesive tab outward, extending it gradually to free it from the space between the battery and the rear case.
Gently draw the adhesive tab outward until it detaches fully from the battery; should the tab fracture, attempt to recover any remaining portion and continue the pulling action, or follow the subsequent steps.

Step 22

Step 22 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3
Carefully separate the remaining battery adhesive strip from the battery's lower edge.
Carefully lift the battery's adhesive tab, separating it from the battery surface while permitting the adhesive strip to gradually detach from the space between the battery and the rear case.
To prevent the battery from being ejected unexpectedly, maintain firm contact with it as the last adhesive strip is fully released from the iPhone.
Gently draw the adhesive strip outward until it fully detaches from the iPhone's casing.
Should all three adhesive strips detach cleanly, proceed to step 24; however, if the adhesive tears away from the battery and becomes irretrievable, carefully apply a small quantity of isopropyl alcohol with a concentration exceeding 90% beneath the battery's edge, specifically targeting the location of the damaged adhesive strip(s).
Allow approximately one minute for the isopropyl alcohol to soften the adhesive securing the battery, then carefully separate the battery from the device casing using the spudger’s flat edge.
To avoid damage, do not use excessive force when removing the battery. If the battery remains stuck, add additional alcohol to dissolve more of the adhesive. Ensure the pry tool does not bend or penetrate the battery casing during removal.
To prevent irreversible logic board damage, avoid applying force during separation. Exercise caution when releasing the battery adhesive, specifically in the area above the volume up button and mute switch, as the audio controls cable—bonded to the rear case directly below the battery—is susceptible to damage.
If the battery remains adhered, proceed to the following instructions.

Step 23 | Alternative methods to unstick the battery from the case

Step 23 image
To free a battery adhered to the back cover, apply heat using an iOpener or a hair dryer, directing the warmth specifically to the area behind the battery.
Carefully raise the battery from its compartment using a plastic opening tool.
Exposure to excessive heat presents a fire risk for the iPhone's battery.
To release the battery from the rear case, use dental floss or, for greater separation force, an unwound guitar string—specifically, a 0.009 E string from a 12-string guitar set.
Using floss or string, gently work it between the battery and its housing, moving back and forth like a saw to break the adhesive bond.

Step 24

Step 24 image
Disconnecting the iPhone's internal battery requires careful attention to avoid damage; therefore, proceed with its removal.
Carefully slide the protective plastic covering off the new battery, ensuring you don't snag or damage the ribbon cable during removal.
To prevent damage, ensure any residual alcohol solution is completely removed by wiping with a clean cloth or by permitting full evaporation before proceeding with battery installation.
To confirm correct positioning within its designated space, briefly plug the battery connector back into the logic board socket prior to securing the new battery.
Secure the battery in place, then sever its electrical connection before proceeding with the remaining assembly steps.
To secure a battery lacking factory-applied adhesive, follow the instructions in this guide for adhesive strip replacement.
Following reassembly, execute a factory reset to mitigate potential problems and streamline any subsequent diagnostic procedures.
