Carefully pull the rear cover away, being mindful to avoid damage to the plastic clips.
Carefully detach the rear panel.

Before reattaching the ribbon cable, clean it to remove any grease; oils from your fingers can interfere with proper electrical connection.
Ensure the antenna retainer, secured solely by the upper screw, is correctly positioned; during reinstallation of the cable, align it so the gold contact makes contact with the rear cover.
Exercise extreme caution when disconnecting the battery cable; the connector is secured to the motherboard by four tiny solder joints and can easily be detached if handled carelessly.

Step 6

Using a plastic pry tool, carefully insert it between the battery and the device's outer casing, focusing on the lower-left corner.
Using a spatula, carefully separate the battery from the device housing by sliding it along the right edge.

Step 7

To release the battery, grasp and pull the plastic tab.
Disconnect the battery.

Carefully unscrew the screws securing the motherboard to the computer case.
A 2.5mm Phillips screwdriver is needed to access a screw located adjacent to the vibration motor.
A Phillips head screwdriver, size 2.4mm, is required.
Locate a 3.6 mm standoff affixed to the motherboard, positioned near the battery.
Employ a small flathead screwdriver to loosen the 3.6 mm post.

Step 24

Carefully lift the motherboard, accessing it from the external speaker side, and move it toward the device’s bottom edge.
Carefully detach the motherboard from the computer case.

During reassembly, ensure the display and sensor ribbon cable completely passes through the opening cut into the device’s frame; otherwise, it will not connect to the motherboard. Remember to transfer the rubber Home button from the old display to the new one, exercising caution due to its delicate nature to prevent tearing. Also, confirm the speaker mesh is present on the new display; if absent, move it from the old display. Replacement displays typically lack the 7 mm plastic ring surrounding the front-facing camera, so transfer this ring from the original display. Finally, apply a protective film to shield the new display from scratches.

Ensure proper installation of the new or replacement display assembly by observing these crucial steps: The home button, typically not included with new displays, must be transferred from the original unit. Handle the thin rubber gasket associated with the home button with caution to prevent damage. Verify the replacement display includes the speaker mesh; if absent, relocate it from the original display. Remove the protective film, commonly blue or pink, from the display’s surface prior to installation. If the replacement display lacks the 7 mm clear plastic ring around the front-facing camera, carefully move it from the old display.

Avoid forceful manipulation, which risks cable damage. Instead, disassemble the display assembly, carefully realign the cable, and guide it through to its proper position.

To prevent LCD malfunctions during reassembly, avoid contact with the metal section at the LCD data cable's base; if accidental contact occurs, carefully wipe the area with an alcohol wipe before proceeding.
To prevent display issues potentially caused by static electricity, use an alcohol wipe to thoroughly clean the touchscreen before powering on the iPhone following reassembly.
To ensure proper initialization following reassembly, first plug the iPhone into standard AC power and then activate it; after successful startup, you may then remove the AC power connection.
To prevent surface damage, apply a fresh screen protector to the display following reassembly.
