Step 2 | Remove the bottom screws

Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, detach the two screws, each measuring 3.7mm, located at the dock-connector end of the iPhone.

For improved handling and safety, detach the metal handle from the suction cup; gripping the suction cup's base directly provides a more secure hold.
Exercise extreme caution during iPhone disassembly to prevent damage to the delicate display cables.
A rubber gasket is situated between the silver front bezel and the black display assembly; separation of the iPhone’s display assembly necessitates applying moderate force, and rocking a suction cup back and forth can facilitate this process.
Carefully lift the bottom edge of the iPhone’s display assembly by applying gentle upward force with a small suction cup positioned close to the Home button.
When the display assembly's surface prevents a secure bond with a suction cup due to damage, employ a robust adhesive tape—like duct tape or packing tape—as an alternative.

Step 4 | Pull up the display

Because multiple cables secure the display assembly to the iPhone's internal components, avoid complete separation at this stage.
Tilt the display assembly upwards, achieving roughly a 45-degree angle.

Step 5 | Disconnect cable 1

Using one hand to secure the display assembly, employ a spudger with your other hand to carefully detach the display's black ribbon cable, identified as "1".
To avoid damaging the ribbon connector and requiring a display replacement, carefully slide the spudger in from the left side, positioning it beneath the ribbon as illustrated. Attempting to lift the ribbon from the right will likely cause connector damage.

Step 6 | Disconnect cable 2

Adjust the display assembly's orientation to a near-vertical position to simplify access and disconnection of the remaining cables.
Carefully detach the ribbon cable identified as "2"—this cable connects to the capacitative touch panel—using a spudger.

Step 7 | Disconnect cable 3

Certain international (Chinese, European) 3G models lack the plastic flip tab; instead, gently slide the ribbon cable toward the display to detach it. During reassembly, ensure the ribbon cable is securely seated within its connector by applying even pressure.
Connector "3" on certain iPhone models exhibits an inverted color scheme, featuring a black plastic tab and a white connector; ensure the tab is raised correctly to prevent connector damage.
Employ a spudger to lift the white plastic tab, which secures ribbon cable "3" by rotating it upward 90 degrees, thereby disengaging the cable.
Carefully disconnect the black ribbon cable by sliding it from its connector, then detach the display assembly from the iPhone.

Step 8 | Remove the SIM card tray

Using a SIM eject tool or a straightened paper clip, gently push into the small aperture located adjacent to the headphone jack.
Apply pressure to the tool, ensuring it extends the SIM card tray from its housing.
Using your fingers, gently push the SIM card tray outward from the iPhone until it is fully ejected.

  • Carefully detach the ribbon cable identified with the number "6" using a spudger.

  • For iPhone 3GS models, consult the visual guide in the second image and employ a spudger to carefully detach the ribbon cable identified as "7".

  • Before securing the ribbon cables, carefully ensure their contacts match the corresponding sockets on the motherboard; magnification, using a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe, may be necessary for precise alignment.

Step 12 | Remove the logic board screws

  • Detach the component by releasing the pressure exerted by eight fasteners.

    • The logic board is attached to the rear case using five screws; each is 2.3 mm in length, features a Phillips #00 head, and has partial threads.

    • The logic board and camera are fastened together using two screws; each is a full-thread Phillips #00 screw, measuring 2.3 mm in diameter.

    • Beneath the "Do not remove" sticker, locate and remove a Phillips #00 screw with a 2.9 mm head.

    When putting everything back together, ensure the 1/4-20 x 1-inch bolts are tightened to 18 lb-ft, and the retaining clips are properly seated to prevent component separation, using pliers if necessary, and always observe the safety warnings regarding pinch points.
    The camera is secured by a metal strip affixed with the orange-highlighted screw located on the bottom right side.
    Ensure the strip is correctly positioned, then secure it using the full-thread Phillips #00 screw, measuring 2.3 mm, adjacent to the camera.

Step 13 | Loosen the camera

  • Carefully leverage the camera module from its rear case housing using a spudger, applying gentle force.

  • Due to its connection to the logic board's base, complete camera removal is currently not possible.

Step 14 | Remove the logic board

  • Carefully lift the logic board's edge nearest the dock connector using a spudger, applying gentle pressure.

  • Due to its proximity to the 'do not remove' label, the logic board's delicate, small, gold-colored grounding tab is susceptible to damage. Exercise extreme caution to prevent it from catching on the device's case edges during logic board removal; breakage occurs readily. Post-removal signal issues may indicate a damaged ground tab, requiring inspection.
    Verify that each of the screws holding the logic board in place has been completely unscrewed if you encounter resistance when attempting to separate it.

Step 15

  • Carefully advance the logic board in the direction of the dock connector to disengage it from the iPhone's internal housing.

  • Before securing the logic board within the iPhone enclosure following battery replacement, attach the camera connector to the board. Align the upper portion of the logic board, specifically the area housing the SIM tray, ensuring proper positioning to prevent SIM card slot misalignment. Subsequently, position the remaining portion of the board. Correct installation is confirmed when the SIM tray aligns with the iPhone case opening and the camera module is fully seated.

Step 16 | Loosen the battery

Using a 5/32-inch hex key, carefully tighten the four M4x8 pan head screws securing the fan assembly to the heatsink, ensuring a torque of 4 in-lbs to prevent damage.
Carefully lift the battery from the rear case using a spudger, as it is secured by an adhesive strip that runs along its edges.
Employing only the provided plastic pull-tab to detach the battery risks causing damage due to excessive force; therefore, avoid this practice.
Disconnecting the battery isn't required to replace the GPS antenna; however, doing so provides increased clearance when working with the headphone assembly, the removal of which isn't essential for the antenna replacement itself.
The iPhone battery is secured to the rear enclosure using a low-strength adhesive, which typically remains adhered to the battery during removal. If your new battery has pre-applied adhesive, no further action is needed; otherwise, carefully move the adhesive from the original battery to the replacement.
To release a battery that is stuck, carefully work a small amount of isopropyl alcohol with a concentration exceeding 90% between the battery and the device casing; permit approximately one minute for the adhesive to soften. Then, employing the spudger's flat edge, cautiously pry the battery free and ensure the alcohol completely evaporates before proceeding with the new battery installation.
To prevent damage, avoid using excessive force when releasing the battery. Should the battery remain adhered, add additional alcohol droplets to dissolve the adhesive further. Ensure the pry tool does not compromise the battery's structural integrity by bending or piercing it.
To facilitate battery separation, apply gentle heat to the case's rear surface using a hair dryer or heat gun, ensuring the setting is at its lowest level; this warms the adhesive, making it easier to dislodge the battery with a spudger.
To prevent potential injury or equipment damage, exercise care.Exposure to excessive heat poses a risk of battery ignition in the iPhone.

Step 17 | Mute Switch

Carefully align the 4mm diameter dowel pins with their corresponding holes in both the upper and lower chassis halves, then gently press the two sections together until they are flush, ensuring no gaps exist and avoiding damage to the pins.
Using the appropriate screwdriver, detach the four screws.
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three 1.8 mm screws that fasten the headphone jack and GPS antenna assembly to the back cover.
A plastic loop, situated close to the headphone jack, secures a 3.8 mm Phillips #00 screw.

Step 18

Carefully align the 4mm hex key to the setscrew, ensuring it engages fully, then gradually tighten the setscrew to a torque of 1.5 Nm using the torque wrench.
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, detach the four screws that hold the volume and vibrate buttons in place.
Note that the screw located furthest to the right is a longer length than the remaining three screws; ensure this difference is accounted for during reassembly.

Step 19

Carefully align the 4mm diameter dowel pins into their corresponding holes on both the upper and lower chassis halves, ensuring a flush and secure fit before proceeding.
Detach the volume button's electrical components from the iPhone's side, then gently separate the orange ribbon cable from the back panel.
Gently separate the headphone jack from the upper edge of the rear panel.

Step 20
