To avoid injury and contain shattered fragments while you work, secure any cracked display glass with tape.
Apply strips of transparent packing tape across the iPhone screen, ensuring complete coverage by slightly overlapping each successive strip.
To prevent scattered glass fragments and maintain stability during the display separation process, this technique ensures structural support while prying and lifting.
To safeguard your vision, always use safety glasses while performing this repair, as fragments of glass may become dislodged.

Step 2 | Home Button

Step 2 image
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, detach the two screws securing the iPhone's lower edge, positioning the tool on either side of the dock connector.

Step 3

Secure the provided suction cup directly onto the iPhone's display surface, positioning it in the area located above the home button.
Carefully raise the display by applying gentle, controlled upward pressure with the suction cup, being mindful that the display assembly remains connected to the motherboard via ribbon cables and should not be fully detached.
If the standard suction cup fails to properly grip the screen, a more robust suction cup or duct tape may be employed to separate the screen; however, avoid using duct tape unless a screen replacement is intended.
Tilt the display upwards until it forms a 45-degree angle with its base.

Step 4

Employ a spudger to carefully separate ribbon cables numbered 1, 2, and 3.
Note that the third cable utilizes a port on the board, necessitating an inset connector for secure attachment.
To release the ribbon cable, raise the black retaining tab located on the rear of the connector port; the third ribbon cable will then be free to be withdrawn by sliding it to the right.

Step 5

Step 5 image
Once connectors 1, 2, and 3 have been disconnected, the display assembly can be fully removed; temporarily isolate the iPhone case as only the assembly is required for subsequent steps.
Image clarity is suboptimal.

Step 6

Step 6 image
The home-button assembly is readily identifiable in this area.
Carefully inspect the flat flex cable connecting to the home button assembly, verifying it is secure and free from any tears or breaks; refer to the provided image where this cable is highlighted with a rectangular marker.

Step 7

Even if the cables appear undamaged or secure connections fail to resolve the issue, carefully inspect the dock connector for pin damage, paying particular attention to the areas indicated by the red circles. Repairing damaged pins is highly complex, demanding specialized tools and considerable expertise; therefore, replacement of the cables is often the more practical solution.
Examine the cable pins associated with the home button—refer to the second image for identification with a red marker—if the issue persists. Replacement of the cables or the entire home-button assembly is recommended if any of these pins are damaged, as they are exceptionally delicate and difficult to repair.

Step 8

Step 8 image
Replacement cables are available if damaged; alternatively, if the home-button screws are fractured or absent, or the home button itself is non-functional, acquiring a complete home button assembly—illustrated in the accompanying image—is recommended.
